This is the story of my e30 touring which I parted in the summer of 2008. Don’t had the time to write the story about the car yet.

I had my drivers license about one year. I sold my 318is very fast because I wanted a touring. It was very hard to find a cheap and good car in the year 2003. Also I wanted the right engine for it ”“ m20b25! So I found one car for 1250 euro near Frankfurt. The color was royalblau met and it had many scratches but it had only a little bit rust. Furthermore the tranny was real shit. It was loud like hell. Furthermore the tan leather was really damaged. So much work to do.

The preowner was a good smoker and that’s why I have to change nearly everything of the interior but the first thing I did was to change the alloys. I put some BBS RZ on the car and I liked it very much. The next thing were some lowering springs and some other things like steering wheel, radio etc.. Nothing special.

But there were more things on my to do list like changing the tranny. I drove to a friend near Hamburg were we changed the tranny and the clutch. Other parts followed time after time, so I bought smoked elips, smoked tail lights, a strut bar and all those things what you are buying when you start with swapping parts on your car. Furthermore I got the first ACS part”¦ the front spoiler!

Although there was one thing I didn’t liked on my car. All those scratches on the paint. I wanted something new. I ever wanted a car with a dark green paint”¦ something like british racing green. So one year later I decided to change the color. All I had to do was to remove every part on this car (that was also some practice for 2008). A friend helped me with the engine because I couldn’t do that all at home. My father would have killed me ;)
It took about 4 weeks. I worked every day during the week from about 3 pm till 10 pm and on the weekend from 9 am till 10 pm. I will never do this again. Next time I will pay someone for that but maybe one problem was that I had no other car which I could drive so I had to ask my brother, mother or father. And yes I had to drive a scooter some days 

After 4 weeks the car was stripped and it took about 2 more weeks till it came back from the paint job. So I needed 3 more weeks to put everything together. That was hell because all those small things on the doors and I had to be very careful that I get no scratches in the new paint.

here is the rest of the story...

So the car was painted and I was satisfied (for some months). Then I found some 17”a PLS rims. They were great but they had bolt pattern 4x98. With the right screws you could drive them but I don’t liked that option. So I sold them again. I think it was in the year 2005 or 2006 where the 5 lug swap with E36 parts was actual. So I got the parts for a 5 lug swap. I was one of the first in Germany with this option. Maybe the second or third one. I wanted some 3 pcd Schnitzer rims for the car that it looked like the photoshop

After getting all the parts (compact parts, H&R suspension, bigger brake from 300mm.de, new bushings, other rims 7x17 from the E36) I started with the swap. The swap was very easy and I had no problems. All parts fitted very well. I liked the look at the end but I knew that I need some spacers or bigger rims because I had too much room left in the fenders”¦ you could play football in those fenders ;)

I still had the old m20b25 and I wanted something else. A friend sold his m52b25 and I got this engine but the swap was everything else then easy. I had so many problems. The ecu for example got damaged and I had to find another one. It took several weeks to find one because you needed also all the EWS (the electronic anti theft device) parts.
Furthermore I still had the Eisenmann exhaust”¦ I liked it. Also I got some nice Recaro seats (hello Yan-M3 :D ) and some other parts in tan color for the interior. I tried also some other rims because I wanted something else. Yes I’m a wheel whore! I found also some other AC Schnitzer goodies. In the end I had nearly everything from AC Schnitzer which was available for the E30.

Then”¦ BAM! I bought the OZ Mito alloys. Perfect looking on that car (but not better then ACS type 1). I had those alloys the last years on that car before it was parted out. Those are the last pics before I parted it in June 2008:

In June 2008 I finished studying and I had no time for the car. I didn’t drove it for over a year. I got the E34 M5 and that was my daily driver. Didn’t had the money to drive 2 or 3 cars. I got a new job and i also moved to Frankfurt where I had less time for all the cars. Furthermore I needed a cheap daily driver. My decision was to part the touring because I know the worth of all those parts and nobody will pay the whole car. I parted the whole car and sold the body and suspension to a guy who will put a V8 in it. I already saw some pics and I can’t wait to see my old car again on the road. So it is in good hands.

Sometimes when I think about the car I get some tears”¦

I can't believe you parted it out after all that! I can see why from a financial perspective but the car was lovely.

You got any links to the next step of this car? The V8 build? Looks like one hell of a relationship you had with it, a lot of work went into it there, loved that interior, cream and green work together beautifully.
Not in E30s any more :(
