I have managed to get half of the central locking working though. Just the doors. Still got to sort out the boot and petrol flap. But I keep getting a warning light about my brake lights (but they are working).

I think I have a bad earth in the boot and it's preventing the central locking from working properly????

Not all bad no. Had to do a bit of jiggery pokery with the central locking ecu. Gave it a spray of card cleaner to get any s**t off it and then sparayed it with Muc Off silicon spray. Got the ecu working properly, but didn't solve the boot and tank klapper problem....

it might need the red/black wire mod if jiggling the wires makes it work again

It's not that Alex, I've had to completely repair the door harness. 9 of the wires in between the BIW and the door were completely severed. Much patching up has been done with a soldering iron and extra wire.

I need a new courtesy switch for the driver's side, it's not the right one, other than that everything is working fine now. (Apart from the central locking that is...lol) but it's nothing to do with that modification. All the wires have continuity now.

It's the brake lights warning light. I'm tempted to get a brake switch too.

But I've had my lad standing behind the car checking the lights and there defo working.

Cheers Lee. I thhink he checks out most of the forum by the looks of it. I'm sure he'll have a browse at some point. I've got a strong feeling it's a bad earth or somrthing along those lines, but the Missus has to have some attention too. I can't be messing with the e30 all the time. She'd bloody kill me.

I don't mind having a modge and blowing a few fuses anyway. It keeps my mind active.....lol

Brake light warning should come on every time you start it. Should switch off when you press the brakes.

Bah, mine occasionally comes on, but all the brakes and sensors are new, they come on, but if turn the ignition off and then back on they sometimes dissapear, bit of an intermittent fault on mine :|

Just think, your initial time with e30 could be worse, ive had mine 5 weeks (and a few days) now and out of those 5 weeks its only been driveable for 4 of them. fun times.

wonder if our central locking has a similar problem then? mine works if i use the passenger door or the boot lock, but the drivers door lock doesn't. Also the brake light switch comes on as expected when first started and clears when pressing the brake pedal or check control panel switch. but it does sometimes come back on. seems to also come back on when i put it in reverse :?

I do have a sneaky suspicion that it's something in the boot. I may be totally wrong, but until I try it I won't know...

I am not 100% sure but I think the wiring harness runs around the car that way... brake light sensors, then on to the boot lock then on to the petrol flap????

I will investigate further on New Years Day....
