when doing more than 40mph there's a new noise under my bonnet, i think it comes from the distributor side of the engine. as i drive faster its noiseyier, what spins faster when i drive faster anyone know?

Don't sound like the engine. Must be something to do with the drivetrain. you could do with lifting it off the ground putting it in gear and let someone drive whilst you look around for the noise. I recommend taking it to a garage for this.

i think it might be the wheel bearing.
