hello guys, im in the process of doing a M30 conversion and know that some people use a prop from e46 328 BUT reverse the center bearing!.. how is this done? ive been looking at a few pics of the E36 prop and the spline seems to be on the rear prop and not at the front!,

The actual bearing and mount have a long and short side. the long side goes one way on the E30, and the other way on an E36/46.
Just knock the old one off and put a new one on the opposite way (d instead of p).

if you do that wont you need a e30 centre bearing?
just letting you know if you choose not to use a 325i prop?

Not sure, but if you reverse whichever bearing is on there, I think mine was an E36 one, it will line up properly. Put it on the way it's sposed to be and it will be skewiff.

probably asking for too much now, but has anyone got any pics to give me a better understanding? what really confuses me is that the e36 prop spline is on the rear wheras the e30 one is on the front prop?

they still fit in the same place. No need to muck about with anything. as the prop is off the car, the weight will swing it to the L(or R) if you take the bearing off and use the E36 bearing, you need to make it hang the other way as the bearing is the same size but the mount that bolts to the body is on the wrong side. So you swap the bearing front to back to compensate

i dont have a pic of the e36 bearing but i know why you want pics. piece of mind or to get your head around it.
dont worry about the splines being oposite way as it will make no difference when on. its a case of getting the centre bearing off. bit of a fight and chances are it wont come off in 1 bit
