I'm currently struggling to find an A/C compressor for a 318iS/M42 engine, but I've managed to find one for an M20, but, after checking on www.realoem.com, it seems that the part numbers are different.
I know the compressor mounting bracket is engine-specific, but is the compressor also engine specific?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
Are all air-con compressors the same?

i have just fitted a sieko sekkei one from a m40 to a m20 only the mount was different but the m20 has a angled pipe on the top to keep the pipe away from the m20 manifold (the pipe is interchangeable between applications)
the compressor i have is the later e30 type and was fitted to both m20 and m40 ....a point to add is the pipes are different where they connect to the compressor as the m20 engine is longer and thus needs longer pipes but only the pipes that connect to the compressor differ all the rest is the same
