535i sport vs 525i sport (m50) e34

have had both allthough never drove the 535i as it was cheap and had to be scrapped! but fuel will mean m50 525i will be better for some but as a weekend fun machine whats the better buy? and is the 535i better and more responsive than the m50?

The 535i is more of a motorway cruiser but with the right suspension can be a
track tool.
Fit one of speedtouch's chips to the 535i (wish I had done to mine) and I'll bet it'll be a better alrounder.
MPG wise on track approx 11mpg
all round 20-25
on a long run 31 ish

Despite only having 25'ish bhp between them, the 535i has always felt quite a bit quicker than a 525i IMO. It's a lot easier to find a decent 525i nowadays though.

Yes the torque of the M30 lump makes it nice and quick, was fab going round the Ring in my old 535i Sport
