Smiley Headlights
Moderator: martauto
Hi there chaps, Being new to the E30 I have bought a convertible 325i with what I presume are smiley headlights as they have a sort of mouth that smiles. Please excuse my ignorance but can you explain why they are smiley and why some aren't and what benefit are they. In other words what do they do differently to standard headlights.

Hi there and welcome to the zone
The only difference is the way they look and that the other's (ellipsoid) were only fitted for one year of production, so have a certain rarity value. The bit that does the business is the small domed bit in the middle which is the same on both types.
The smiley’s do let a bit of light out through the cut-out's but on the road this makes no real difference.

They smile at you - quite appropriate for a Beemer
