Does anyone have a list of gear ratios used on 320i and 325i gearboxes, not overly worried about the sport boxes but if you have them please post them up.
I had a search but couldn't find anything.

I've posted it twice before at least, but here goes:
320i - 3.72, 2.02, 1.32, 1.00, 0.81 and 3.45 reverse
325i - 3.83, 2.20, 1.40, 1.00, 0.81 and 3.46 reverse
Sport - 3.35, 2.03, 1.36, 1.00, 0.81 and 3.20 reverse.

Andy, sorry to butt in on your post but it got me thinking :-
Can somebody tell me what combination of gearbox and LSD ratio would give max acceleration on a 325i & how much would top speed be reduced by?

I would stick with the 320i gearbox rather than shell out Ԛ£250 for a sport box especially if your current 320i gearbox is a good one.
Sport boxes tend to be well abused like most of the cars.

Thanks Brian, just what I was looking for.
I did have another search even using the numbers you listed as ratios. NO RESULTS MATCH YOUR QUERY maybe I'm being really thick or the search function is, I don't know.
Does anyone know how sturdy the 320i boxes are. The one in my car is in exceptionally good condition and was wondering if they will cope with a 2.7 conversion.
I was going to put a 325i standard box in, but my diff is making bad noises and needs changing.

320i box is fine with a 2.7
I know of a 200+ BHP e30 using a 320i box and there was never a problem.
I have a strong feeling the internals are the same quailty but just different ratios.

Thats good news, I also noticed that the 320i's ratios are closer to that of the sport gearbox than the 325i box is, with the exception of first.
My other post about changing boxes or diffs wasn't very clear, my budget is limited and I had planned to change the box, the diff on my car is getting noisy and needs changing first.

The car has covered over 180k, the diff whines and the rubber mount is shot so it's coming out one way or another.
The gearbox on the other hand is sweet as a nut, no whines, syncro/baulk rings are 100% even when changing gear very quickly.
I should be getting the 2.7 in this week and really don't trust the diff to hold out.
I'm sure I read someone toasted the diff in a 320i that was stock. With the miles I do in my car I can't be risking the rear end breaking up.

Yeah andy, I'd put a big case diff on that 2.7-a 3.64 for economy or a 3.91 for stonking accel
