Ians info was always more than needed, always very detailed. I wouldnt of wired my S50 up if it wasnt for himDanThe wrote:If you boys read Ians post on the first page all the info you need (and more) is there
I remember him taking the time to email me a lot of wiring info, including the above electric fan stuff.
I cut pins free from the E36 fusebox when I fitted the electric fan to my S50 conversion. I had the complete E36 loom, so cut pins out and traced the wires right back to the fan, switch and earth connections.Brianmoooore wrote: No idea on E36 pins. The pins require a special tool to remove them and leave them reusable, unless you cut the plastic away that retains them.
They fitted the E30 fusebox fine.

i'm starting to think it might be easier to just fit the fan & install a (toggle) switch (somewhere) on the dash & turn it on & off as & when needed, surely that can't be to hard??

A switch on the dash is fine if youre the only one who is going to drive the car and even then you have to remember to turn it on! It might be a little more work to wire in the thermo switch, but its fit and forget. It really isnt difficult to wire in the thermo switch, it took me a couple hours and Im no wiring expert.
A mate had a switched fan on a 2.0l converted Cosra - forgot to tell his MOT man.... you can guess the rest
