How would you stop water and dirt getting into the dampers and ruining the seals? Why do you need to have springs harder than any of the normal types? I have to say I've driven an E36 325i with coil overs and it was absolutely horrible. Yes, it handled okay (in a bumpy, skittish sort of way) but the noise from the suspension over bad roads was unreal (imagine a car with f*cked top mounts all round). I've driven E30's on normal H&R springs, reasonably soft damping (Konis set to medium) but proper H&R anti roll bars that handle superbly and with a very good ride. The secret of a good handling car is NOT springs so stiff that the ride is poor. All you achieve long term are cracked inner wings. Decent anti roll bars are of much greater importance and with adjustable ones you can set the car up to your liking with regards to understeer, oversteer or whatever. Look at how well as E30 M3 handles and drives - and that's got softer damping than a 325i Sport or anything Alpina made.
We've all got opinions but coil overs are for track cars, not something for everyday use over shite UK roads.
I would suggest to anyone thinking of fitting coil overs to drive the car first before you buy. having driven one, you'd have to pay me to have them on a road car.
I would say the recipe for a sweet driving E30 is
Koni top adjust shocks
H&R springs
H&R anti roll bars
Fresh BMW rear beam bushes
E30 M3 offset front wishbone bushes.
Negative camber E30 M3 top mounts
A car with a lovely compliant ride, great turn in and not a lot of roll. Ideal handling then.

I will wait and see what TW116Y thinks of them 1st.
My car is very noisy anyway I have poly engine and gearbox mounts and it sound like the engine is sitting next to you plus its a cab so wind noise. so I wont mindnoise from the suspension over bad roads was unreal

Don't always agree with what Andyboy posts, but on this occasion I reckon he's spot on. Maybe something to take a bit of negative out of the rears as well.Andyboy wrote: I would say the recipe for a sweet driving E30 is

As I said before this is not for RACE but if you want and need adjustability of your height this will be great,
I have ridden in cars with coilovers and when setup right they are in no way worse then anything else,
that E36 with coilovers must have had a problem of some sort

There is no extra noise ,
I have driven around with coilovers like these for a few years,
And they are not bumpy unless your shocks are crap
