It sounds like that corroded connector (C191, I think it's called in the technical documents) under the throttle body, that has all the wires for the temperature sensors and the fuel injectors. Mine became badly corroded recently and behaved the same way, also randomly wouldn't let me start the car. I ended up soldering up the wires to prevent any future issues there.

no not yet. seems to be fine for the time being. Idles at 1000rpm (although takes about 4 secs to drop from 1200rpm to 1000)

I also found that it only doesnt start when the idle problem gets worse. I.e. if it get stuck idleing at 2000rpm one day and I stitch off the car.....its takes about 12hours before it will start again. It hasnt done this for a while now.

I'm getting the wires sorted tomorrow - I'll keep you all posted
