To be fair, when I was on the hunt for a set of Bilstein B8 Shocks for my Merc W124 Cab a couple of years ago.... ECP's sourced them for me and were by far and away the cheapest at the time and that included scouring the net....
Im pretty sure my Bilsteins were made by Bilstein as they are ace .

Euro car parts sell cheap because their stuff is cheap, mainly white box unbranded, fact. when you query the customer as to what they are supplying the customer never knows,....... whereas any other company i know and use gives the brand name out, that or youll get an oe part with the brand stamp scrubbed off it. want quality fit the best, want cheap, then euro is your place. as to if they actually supply top brand names im unsure. ie pagid, oe in approx less than 1% of cars but is branded as OEM quality just beacuase of those 2 lines into one dealership? ok......
as for gsf going kaput that is a likely scenario as euro car parts are flooding in and undercutting everyone with cheap(er)(manufactured) parts. andrew page, ecp, sdl minorfern, gsf are all in euros gun sights.
remember motorist discount centres? massive, and you would struggle to walk 50 yards without bumping into one - they were like bloody starbucks back in the day. then halfords appeared and where are they now??? binned.
its all down to who has the most amount of money to spend and take the smallest margin till other rivals go bang. atm, euro is in the line to bin everyone, although to anyone who prefers quality then at least for now there are other alternatives.

ECP are the UK importer for bilstein. Everyone who sells them gets them via ECP as far as i know.Low_E30 wrote:To be fair, when I was on the hunt for a set of Bilstein B8 Shocks for my Merc W124 Cab a couple of years ago.... That postage charge is standard @ my branch, so far we only post to trade customers, will look into it but doubt I'll be able to better it. I can guarantee to give much better prices than dealers on oe quality parts though!Dezzy wrote:Well done for trying to help zoners out my friend.Meatballs82 wrote:Can start shipping next wk for 9.99, free on orders over 100

Well when ever i have ordered from Euros (and it has been alot in the past) i have pretty much always been given the choice between cheap or OEM quality.deanocool wrote:yes thats a lovely list, yet none of those names are over the counter as 1st choice on any quote ive seen. no you need not go on.bss325i wrote:Eh?deanocool wrote:Euro car parts sell cheap because their stuff is cheap, mainly white box unbranded, fact. when you query the customer as to what they are supplying the customer never knows,....... whereas any other company i know and use gives the brand name out, that or youll get an oe part with the brand stamp scrubbed off it. want quality fit the best, want cheap, then euro is your place. as to if they actually supply top brand names im unsure. ie pagid, oe in approx less than 1% of cars but is branded as OEM quality just beacuase of those 2 lines into one dealership? ok......

^+1 I've always been given the choice of quality. I ordered some bits for my e30 last week. All the parts were oem and the only choice I got was for spark plugs. NGK or Bosch, which are both oem

The phrase "OE quality" has been done to death, you only have to look on ebay, everything is "oe quality" yet nothing has a manufacturers name on it...
If you want to be taken seriously you need to give the manufacturers name for the parts you are supplying.
GSF is not going to go 'kaput' and ECP are not undercutting them on everything, I can buy lots of parts for less money at GSF, IF they have the stock!

fair play if you were offered 2 alternatives between cheap and oem. i would be weary of what is actually oem though, as someone said earlier pagid were terrible, yet they are classed as oem. if someone has oem, ie bosch, you can easily say that that is an established brand name that you would trust. pagid isnt one of those 'oem' brands i would trust. its a cheap brand that has worked its way into dealerships. this is just one example, but the main topic onhand being are euro taking over and using cheap parts to do it, is yes in my eyes, and the other big players are going to feel it pinch hard soon, oem/cheap/whatever as the downsize of the situation with a lot of joe public is - who has the cheapest price, not 'what' are you selling cheap?bss325i wrote:Well when ever i have ordered from Euros (and it has been alot in the past) i have pretty much always been given the choice between cheap or OEM quality.deanocool wrote:yes thats a lovely list, yet none of those names are over the counter as 1st choice on any quote ive seen. no you need not go on.bss325i wrote: Eh?

As a ball park, how much would you be undercutting the typical online prices?
^Indeed. Most products are offered as either OEM or 'Alternative' quality. You pays your money, you takes your choice. If you want to do the job on the cheap, there's the option. If you want to use proper kit (I've bought genuine BMW branded oil filters from ECP before), you can pay a little extra and do that also.bss325i wrote:Well when ever i have ordered from Euros (and it has been alot in the past) i have pretty much always been given the choice between cheap or OEM quality.deanocool wrote:yes thats a lovely list, yet none of those names are over the counter as 1st choice on any quote ive seen. no you need not go on.bss325i wrote: Eh?

Sold: 1986 E30 325i Cabriolet, Alpine White
I was looking at rear pitman arms for my e34 from ECP. The lemförder (oem suppliers) box had the ECP part number and the BMW part number on. Why would I pay twice the price for an item from BMW when I would get the exact same product for less from ECP.

i like ecp, you get the choice parts quality, as other people have said, just make sure you check your parts are correct before leaving. its even nicer when you have 2 good mates that work ther and are also in your local club, amazing prices for everyone and great sales figures/bonus for the mates, its a shock seeing the actual spend amounts of the clubs accounts, even for a small club.

Prices / discounts vary for different products, ie there's more room for movement in a service kit than a turbo.. I don't really look on the ecp website so not upto scratch on the prices, all I can say is try me!George wrote:Thanks for setting up.Meatballs82 wrote:E30 zone cash account is live!

I'll second this. But the 'brembo' discs aren't made of the same high quality when you buy a £1000 plus brembo brake upgrade. Their cheap discs AREN'T oem.DanThe wrote:Inside information from GSF = Brembo discs are one of their highest returned products!

Sorry, I just don't get where people get so enthusiastic about their jobs. It's a bit sad really...
When buying parts it's worth checking both ECP and GSF as there are quite a few parts of the same quality but much cheaper from GSF, the one that springs to mind is lemforder control arms, £57 at GSF but £71.94 at ECP. No trade discount will get it as cheap.
One thing I have had with ECP is amazing technical/purchase help with top locking nuts on my H&R shocks, no other place would help in any way but they went out of their way to get it resolved. I was truly amazed at the amount of hassle they went through considering I hadn't even brought the kit from them.

Told you I was cheap...
On the technical help side, most of us like to help out as much as poss, to keep you coming back!
Guess that makes us sad in some peoples eyes... the same people who moan about bad service and slag us to the ground.
Ordered my Headgasket with ecp it came two days later and had been bent to make it fit in the box
, i ordered a flat one and certainly wasnt prepared to take any chances. have now had to take it back and might not get another one until next week
oh dear.
