Not sure that's absolutely true, although it depends how you go about it.

N/A tuning tends to move power up the rev range which means you have to wait for longer untill you get the full hit.

Contrast that with a lowish boost F/I system where off boost response is pretty much the same as a N/A engine, but then you've got the turbo whack to look forward to :)

True though that bigger boost systems with lower CRs will reduce throttle response :(

I think if I was going down this route, I would fit a turbo to a standard block, run it at 6-7psi to make sure the engine didn't blow, make sure I got a nice gearbox, not 100% sure on which gearboxes fit the m20 but I think the Getrag 265 was the strongest box fitted to BMWs, but it's for the M30(also the e30 M3 used it). Hard to get the 265 now though I think.

http://www.mye30.com/dogleg.php - ok it does fit.

Diffs are not really and issue as they will take it, get a finned diff housing, or one with an oilcooler on it.

Run with that in the meantime then buy another 325 engine and start uprating bits at your lesiure, then when its done, swap it in and start uprating the old engine. That way you have the car fairly quickly and cheaply and you are halfway to rediculous power. Then swap in the uprated engine and you are there, and with a spare engine :)

i think the main appeal of the beemas is that engine noise, it sounds great!!

If you want power how about an audi TT 225 lump, thats 225 out the box, revo'd to 270 brake, revo remap cost about 500 quid. Lots of these engines and parts available, mounting might be a problem though.. i can see a lot of custom made bits and bobs coming into play.

I have been on the vw scene for a bit because of my brother, and a friend working for stealth racing has a corrado with a TT lump, chipped, and he ate an e36 m3.

Worth a look if you want power, all the golfs are doing it now too, just dont expect too many mpg. 8O

yeh you cant beat that sound from the beemas, even the 2 litre engine sounds beefy!!

Don't you find the genuine beema scene is better than the dub scene? It gets very clicky over there.
