i think its got that odd charm about them, if they were in full production and thousands were made then they would be considered the ugly ducking of the e30 range, but because there are only 6 made!! makes them a tasty piece of e30 history.
I think the builders were going for the "shooting brake" look for a e30, there has been these types of conversions on other cars before just check out this porsche 944:

that porsche is very pointless ,but interesting.

there was a coach builder in the 80"s called "artz"(maybe still around), they converted the 928 into an estate also, looked great.

I have photo's of this from the ferrari dealership in Colchester. My mate who was running the parts dept rang me and said they had the sultan of brunai's 456 estate in, I laughed and then he emailed me pics. 8O

I saw one of those XJ-S shooting brakes in a motorway service station last year so someone's still using one.

here are a couple more 2-door "tourings"

I love that silver one with the kit on it.

Personally speaking I think that's an extremely cool car and probably one of the best looking E30's I've seen.
Look like the Breadvan could have looked if it had been made years earlier...

Dips, you're a lucky man!
