It's all about attitude Giles. Both JPH78 and Rich W were involved in the discussion and making valid points and basically, this plank just tears a strip off them and tells them to piss off. Totally uncalled for.

i find the dissing normal e30s a bit harsh to be honest, a well sorted 'normal' e30 is far from ordinary as anyone who has been in mine can testify.
still nothing against what u r doing, should be good when its done, the only reason i wouldnt do it is because everyone has an e36 m3 engined car these days lol.

Well I hope it all works out for you in the end. I admire your deterimation in seeing the project through.
IMO the S14 is a huge part of what makes the E30 M3 so special, but each to his own. It's all down to personnal taste at the end of the day.
If you want to put an S52 under the bonnet then go for it. Hopefully I will get to see the car at some point.
Good luck

Mfree i think once it is in you should go crazy and supercharge it for insane speed, or turbo it even, u WILL kill everything on the road, and probably also kill the road itself

Listen MasterBates (like the name BTW - nice... clever too! Must have taken ages to think that smart word-pun up - one for Countdown definitely)
Let's be clear about 2 things: I didn't a) come on here with ANY attitude, I came here TOTALLY humble looking for some help and admitting to my own mistake of not being totally on top of the project at crucial times. asking genuinely for advice and getting alot of it, which i was increadibly thankful for and mate that very very clear
nor did I b) tell anyone to p1ss off - what i said was that a discussion was being held within the thread about something quite unrelated to what was clearly intended as a kind of project journal (so i have to beg to differ with what you accused me of there, I wasn't knocking ANY of their points relating to subjects in this posting AT ALL I was just having a bad day, having just gotten out of hospital and feeling a bit, well SORE to put it midly), if anyone got the wrong impression or was offended - I apologise - sincerely i do as i am not here to make any enemies - but I don't recall any of those people being YOU and unless you are their own personal 'Max clifford' or something, why not let them respond and I will offer them my apology if I offended them, deal?
Overall, there is no need for you to wade in and be so aggressive and rude, I don't know you or who you are (although you have given me and the rest of the zone a pretty good idea of 'what'), you don't know me or who I am and a few postings on here won't change that. John at Zoom and Jason (who was kind enough to bring his 3.2 E30 down and take me out in it which was excellent fun, though very scary!) HAVE met me and I have been totally out in the open and full of praise about John and Zoom, what they are about and what kind of company he is building there. My M3 is, you are right, suffering from the results of being stuck in people's damp garages and sheds neglected largely because of how badly i have been ripped off during the last 4 years by various companies and individuals. So what? What does this say about me? It says I should be more vigilant and reaearch who I work with and contract to do things more thoroughly, sure, i was alot younger back then and way too trusting! But should I be more skeptical and cynical a a result? no - because I will probably end up being quick to judge and have an attitude that is both immature and belongs in the gutter (ring any bells?).
Ian H - thanks for the support - as i said originally, I would dearly love to have taken finishing the project on myself but firstly I just don't have the time or space and secondly having seen what John can do, I don't have even a tenth of the engineering skills that he has that would be required to get the end-result he will!! These other people can take the p1ss out of me all they like for spending the money, yours looks like you got an increadible car for the overall spend and well deserved because you clearly know alot about what's needed to get such a result! I don't so I have to rely on being a clever b'stard in other areas so that i can afford to pay Zoom to do it (and even to have Ԛ£10k ripped off me as well it seems, but I would naturally have preferred not to have had that happen!
By posting the Grey colour mock-up photos and the engine video clip and updates I have attempted to keep this thread interesting and ongoing. When i hear back from Zoom next I will post another update. John has just managed to broker an even better deal on the paint job for me, my C/F parts have just arrived in Germany (the side-mirrors, rear wing and front splitter) but I need to get the EVO II front chin spoiler to attach the splitter to as otherwise I am informed by Markus Glaum, with the large DTM rear gurney flap, the rear downforce will far outweight that at the front, which means dangerous understeer once the rear aero starts working. John advised getting it from C3 as they supplied another customer at a very reasonable price. However, he is SO busy over there at Zoom right now that I dare not press him anyomore for their number as i can't find their site searching any which way on Google - can anyone help? Please PM me with their details if you know them. Thanks in advance and till next time...

Frosted - Though brevity is not my strong point and I'll go further and say i can be quite verbose sometimes!!! My point was in a nutshell not 'why be so bitchy' but why be outright vicious! That wasn't bitchy mate, using words like prick and loser the first time you have ever communicated with someone AND (this bit is the most important part) doing that on *someone else's behalf!!!* - I mean MB wasn't even one of the 'offended' parties!!! As I said, I would deal with an accusation/attack from anyone who felt THEY had been insulted, but this guy was taking it upon himself to use me as a punching bag apparantly on their behalf!!!
That is what made it so out of order!
Anyway, until that individual started writing on my thread, there was not a single insult or slagging of any kind anywhere, not a bad word said to anyone.
Anyway, let that be the end of it - this is a project diary really for those interested in my project and S50 engine conversions, not lessons in how to dig someone out really heavily!

umm i was not aware that that one was a jap import. i was wondering why it had been on trader for so long. i guess no one wants it
i guess it is then
no im a jap import monkey so i can get my guys over there to source one. they are actually no to impossible to find.
will be excellent as well due to the japs being v v good on looking after their cars.
also the price is somewhat nice (got an email from my guy over there on what budget i will need. very nice !

Yeah, that one is rusting away and is also suffering from a head gasket problem, it's also been painted and looks a little tired.

grin, not much of a bargin. the importer must have paid absolutly feck all for it if its thats bad. really the car would not be worth much.
well i wont be paying much for a decent m3 so it seems. worth a go. i could prob make more of m3 e30 than a jap import . grin

No disrespect to anyone on here but I would consult Zoom about costs - I think it depends on what needs/you want doing. My car is a bit different remember, I did lots of custom things like brakes, suspension etc.
My total will be around Ԛ£17k I think all told in the end,
Zoom are the only choice for doing the work though, I found that out after thorough research this time other than the outfit in Germany who are similar, but why go all the way there?

This would make a good write-up in the JOURNAL section of the Zone, rather than on the discussion board.

My total will be around Ԛ£20k I think all told, but that includes about Ԛ£5000 of costs that went to nothing exceot lining GTS Motorsport's pockets for quoted work time that was simply a lie, they quoted rediculous things like 2 weeks to make the electrics work and made an exhaust that hung down under the car like a ball-less scrotum as well as doing things like fabricating engine mounts out of steel pipe welded to a square piece of sheet metal, no rubber, no bracing - NOTHING, as John says theyt would have sheared off over the first serious bump the car went over leaving the engine lying in the road behind!
Pretty shoddy for a race preparer/team who made an E36 M3 last 24 hours to win an endurance race! That's what is so damn disgracefull about them in particular as where Stratos and Foster was just a dodgy criminal and always was, GTS have and still do turn out some alright cars, they just decided to use my project to train up a young YTS apprentice and hence it did take him ages and he made loads of mistakes, the scandal is that they charged me way OTT (twice what they quoted originally) because i was paying for his slow work. Overall they had the car for a year i think!

its a shame about you getting messed up in the beggining but how come you didnt use a company on the continent, i.e sweeden, i.e kilander racing, the guys responsible for tha e30 m5turbo (875bhp)
you might have saved loads and had better quality workmanship
you got any general pics of the car?

I cant say what Zoom would charge, but when I first looked at doing my S50 conversion I had quotes between Ԛ£6-9k. That was over a year ago tho, so as engines get cheaper.....frosted wrote: how much would the conversion cost

MB - that's not cool - it's really not cool to start hinting at giving someones real name away on the site if they haven't already chosen to do so - what do the mods think about that???
But more importantly a) how did you know my real name and b) how did you know anything about my dad?
i feel a bit uneasy in a privacy sense about HOW you found out and you REALLY should not be giving people's identity away or hinting at it on a posting... not cool AT ALL really...
But anyway yeah, BL and the Jaguar XJC Coupe and Dolomite Sprints then onto Fiat and Lancia with the 131 Abarth and the Lancia Stratos, then Nissan with the 240RS Rally Car and their Skyline R31 Skyline GTSR Touring car - been around motorsport all my life, thats probably why i love BMW MCARS so much as one of my earliest memories is watching the Jaguar V12 Coupes breaking down while the amazing 3.0 CSL's roundly trounced them then 10 years later seeing the Nissan R31 GTSR being hammered by the E30 M3 round Zolder...
That's where the family waffle genes come from as well
Also, I can't remember who wrote the reply back there but FFS *I* am honestly trying REALLY hard to just talk about the project, I was doing fine with that, but when people keep dredging up the whole cost issue either to take the mike like MB did or say "why didnt you think of using X or Y people?" (Why say that? It's way too late now! Why didnt i think of using a Swedish company? I dunno, maybe because i have a fear of snow, or maybe because i seriously thought at the time that i should be able to find ONE company here that could do a good job given we are the world leader in motorsport... which is more likely hmm...?)
Anyway see? When people bring up IMO pointless questions (and Im not slagging anyone off OK, Im just saying that IMO it serves no point now to ask that, why didn't i try finding someone in Russia...) I just get drawn back into all the negative feelings associated with being ripped off and not being vigilent enough back there... so mate you are right 'ENOUGH'! So please can people stop asking me things like that then? Ok not my place to demand that, in future I will just reply with 'Because ITV won't bring Tizwaz back on the telly' ok?
Cool.

come on. it's just not right for someone else to reveal it or hint at it, it matters because where did he find out from? I just do not want to continue this, as I and others have said lets keep this on topic from now on, Im fed up with this and feel very put upon.

Thanks to all you who offered an opinion about the colour choice, to let you all know we are going with the Grey - John at Zoom is preparing some test pieces with the painter now. I think it will look great!
Also, I need a nice set of dark grey or black door cards and back seat now that ive decided to put one back in. Can anyone help?
Simon - i will mate!!! When i get some! Theres no point yet the car looks like a heap of turd and in bits now, its being stripped to be painted now and when it's back then I think it will be good to post a few in stages. Also i dare not ask John to take any, he has enough to do, WAY enough to do without taking snaps for me!!!
Cheers
