my car managed 1 month parked on brighton seafront before the rear arches stared to show!bss325i wrote:As said on another thread, there are exceptions to the rule, like cars from the south coast or any coast for that matter can be pretty grim due to the sea air. Or cars driven up and down muddy tracks/farm land everyday car lead to crustyness.
When i worked for Hexagon BMW in Central London, replacing front to rear brake pipes was unheard of where as at the first BMW dealer i worked for, Chandlers of Hailsham (near the coast at Eastborne) it was a regular thing.

You need a new bodyshop. The 'repairs' were obviously not sealed and /or the rust was not all removed .

Just for info - when I had to claim from my insurance company last year, mine was similar to yours but 318i auto, paint wasn't as nice in real life, (fading), my arches were worse but the rest of it looked good - I spent a lot of time looking at values, cars for sale, guides, etc...
ClassicCars mag have a price guide in the back and an E30 cabby 'mint' is guided around £4500!!! Some other guides I found were around the same values and people advertising E30 cabs at silly money in the spring summer always helps!!!
Along with a couple of other price guides I found and a stack of cars for sale, I did manage to get about £3500 out of the insurance company - they don't give anything away, so I would say that's a fair price (after a year of haggling/arguing).
I think it'll depend on how long you can hang around to get your price, but I would stick that up at £4250ish and wait for spring!!!
Obviously a properly written ad with a shed load of pictures is the only way to get the money!!!
May even be worth sorting the ding in the back and putting it up at £4500 for a while???
I would say that should easily fetch £3.5k to £4k all day long, when you find someone who wants one!!! A higher price and long detailed ad should also help put off some of the dreamers!!!
As someone mentioned previously - I would also be tempted to put that in a proper classic car auction - assuming the interior is very good, and mileage is backed up with history, etc!!!
Best of luck!!!

You had a result Rob, yours was a £1500 turd on a good (very sunny) day !
The OPs turds biggest trump card is its mileage. Do a search and see how many nice spec E30s are around with Ca 50k . Very few I would guess, and when you discount the dead coooont owned 316 quattroportes, even less.
A tatty low mileage car can be made into a nice low mileage car, a high mileage 12 owner car will always be that, no matter how nice it is or how much you spend on it. Paedo collector types want low mileage low owner turds and will pay over the odds for the right car.

They all do that, it's what E46's do best. Seen plenty of horrible ones in Hunters.Simon13 wrote: You don't see rusty e46's round here but mines got f**ked front wings and is scabbing on the rear arches above the bumper like e36's do.
The rear arches are rarely rotten, just heavy surface rust. The wings just want replacing, but don't buy genuine BMW at £230 each but the pattern ones I use at around £35 each. Made in Taiwan and a really nice crisp pressing with excellent panel gaps. As long as they're painted and rustproofed properly, they'll last as long as the originals, hopefully a lot longer.
