aha, you only get that on the MIG welded parts, which is usually where the tubes fit in to the box,s or the flnages, these are MIG welded for 2 reasons first it less time consuming than TIG and second its stronger.
All weld that are seen ie tail pipes, brackets on the rear silencers etc are all TIG,d.All welding wire either tig or MIG is either 304 or 316 stainless

Agree on the first point, but not the second.

you can use 316 wire on both 316 & 304 parent material, but not 304 wire on 316 material.

Loud exhausts get boring pretty soon if you drive far/fast. OEM spec are surprisingly burbly at idle, and louder than most modern cars. I can certainly tell when my wife is coming home if she's out in the E30.

I agree with Pete, stainless on an auto is bloody tiresome. I had a powerflow back box on mine when i bought it and needless to say it was the first thing to go and replaced with mild Steel.

the system on magpies E30 sounds great but its was also matted up to M50 when I heard it. Not sure how different it would sound on an M20.

So as we use only 304 parent material that sorted that one out..

the reason why most of the joints between pipe and silencer are MIG,d is due to the fact a perfect butt cannot be made and therefore the gap needs to be filled[gap will be less than 1mm ]so MIG is the ideal way, combination of strength and ease without compromise.
We do , do complete TIG welded systems, mainly for performance or race systems which are all mandrel bent and fully butt welded through out.

The material used for the exhaust is,nt the cause of the noise, its normally wrongly spec,d tube size or silencer size.Every system we build is built to suit the customers requirements,if its not right you dont pay ...simple
As yet no one has left with out paying..lol.
