Can you buy the bolsters from Recaro ? or get a Ford/Vauxhall Recaro to cannibalise ?

If only! From what I understand you can't get anything for these seats and they don't share parts with any of the other period Recaros. Be nice if someone can tell me I'm wrong though.

They look similar to the Ford RS turbo / Sierra Cosworth recaros - the bolsters on Capri/Astra GTE/Manta recaros are definately smaller but the RS ones do look very similar - might be worth a look mate

It's not material I need Rob, I need the odd hinge cover & things like that which are unique to these and then some foam which I'm sure can easily be cut to shape.

These people are some help:

http://www.capitalseating.co.uk/product ... d=61&mid=2

I got a new lower bolster foam from them, it needs to be slightly fettled as it comes from a mk2 golf IIRC but its minor. the upper bolster they told me is not available, but looking at their website it looks like some would be a close match. Give them a call they are quite friendly and helpful. They also said that they could make one bespoke for the seat.

The other problem with recaros is the back piece bolsters are supported by 2 "wings" of bent tube, if the seat has seen some serious pie eater action they will bend and snap off, its easy to spot as the bolsters look splayed.

None of the plastic parts are available sadly from BMW.

As bad as they look it'll look even worse once they are removed. They'll be holes and looking at how much houndstooth fades the seat will probably be a different colour underneath if they've been on a long time :(
who knows, but i agree they will be gone when re fit time comes, unless there are big holes/dark cloth and look odd, hope not,t he badges did look like new so i dont think theyve been on there for years

also i think il buy a nice pair of front seats or a full set if some mint ones crop up, be nice to know you have spare seats !

Shakeele30 has/had a very tidy set. Might be worth a pm.

My ever first E30 I bought 10 years ago also had a set. At the time I didnt know how rare they were!
Did Keiran get a slap?

I let the Travelers weigh my first e30 in and didn't bother taking the 13 button obc or tweeters out :x

Ah hindsight!! but I took out the blue cloth seats!! what a good judgement that was!

I'd say houndstooth was seen as a bit dated 10/15 years ago & only coming back into favour now...

Bad man! Go away with your temptation! Did you go look at the m535i?

Polsta your interior is in fantastic shape  (but I would remove the badges!)

My back seat would need replaced, thought I had sourced one but Petes was buggered too! :(

These seats are alot more comfortable... and frankly better looking. Gah, I was trying to talk myself out of getting a set.... I hate you all

There will be holes. Ferg had the same issue on his iS check interior and had to leave them in, however he did scratch off the M Stripes which looks a lot better.

Houndstooth ( a Ford cloth trim from 1978-80) is correctly called 'country'. :D

Polsta scratch/peel the M stripes off mate as Dave stated, not 100% problem solved but not as 'in your face' 8) It's a shame because you trim does look in VGC!
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.
