I do understand both points of view for getting an E30 or sx, its just that the E30 is getting on abit, and 5K in anyones book is alot to throw at an E30.

Obviously he might get a minter for 3K, but for the same amount of money he'd get a tidy sx.

As i said, each to their own, and what ever he chooses he'll have great fun in both :D

I know of a very nice E30 m3 for around 5k and its not a shitter. Very very tidy car.

The S14 is a very reliable engine, all you have to do is keep it serviced and treat it properly.

The 3,6 E34 M5 is a real gem, the engines hardly ever fail and are known to do well over 250k before requiring anything. You thought the M20 was bullet proof?? These go for 3k- 5.5k and will slaughter alot on the road.
They dont really drink much more than an M20, under certain driving conditions are actually better on juice.

E34 540i - Noooo!! Juicy juicy and very prone to Nikasil Bore wear.

E30 m3 or E34 M5.....they are a huge jump forward from what you currently have.

what parts do you need to replace a 200sx head gasket then? a head gasket itself isn't that expensive...

maybe it's like with the celica gt-4 a mate of mine had once - headgasket went, and he didn't repair it for at least a year (last time I spoke to him) not because it cost a lot, but because it was an absolute pain in the a*se to get to the head gasket in the first place - which would explain stupid labour prices, if that price of Ԛ£1k include labour.

lol, if you can find out that'd be great, i just can't think there's *that* many gaskets (oh unless he decides he needs uprated steel gaskets everywhere!), i just checked my old ETK with old prices (but they won't be that far off) and a 325i head gasket is Ԛ£60-Ԛ£70 + vat (there's I saw, 2 thicknesses)

I still prefer e28 M5 to e34, the 34 just reminds me of the e36 to much, and i dont think it looks mean to be honest

fix all the little things on your 'to do list' and then put a bigger, faster engine in winkeye
