M badges on non M cars

I am not talking about kitted up e36's pretending to be M's. I am talking about M badges. I see them on allsorts of e30's.

Why?

Your car is not an M, so why have any amalgamation with the badge?

I Just don't get it....

Because my car is fully Mtech spec. And it looks good.

I could be wrong but i think 325i sports come out of the factory with the ///M badge because of the M-Tech bodykit, suspension etc, i have owned 2 of them now and both had the ///M badge when i bought them an also they are a part available from BMW. Infact i dont think i've seen a sport without them. Not sure about the other E30's though.

certainly not from the factory anyhow, altho some dealers did fit them before sale.

personally my own view is if it aint an m car then it shouldnt have an m badge

I have to agree it's ok to put on M badge on so long as you have Mtech parts fitted. But certainly not an M3 badge.

Makes me laugh though as a lot of my mates still think it means the car is an M3 or at least trying to impersonate one, so i think they can draw some unwanted attention aswell, especially from boy racers.

Probably one of the main reasons i wouldn't have them on my car.

Good point Kedge... I do get a few of the old chavvy mushta's thinking I'm some rudeboy wanna be M3 driver.

A girl where I work asked if it was real M3..when I said no... she started asking.. "So why does it say it is when it blatantly isnt"

Well if you read it my dear there is no badge or similar saying M3... it's a simple M
