Im gutteed for you. Sorry to hear that, so many e30's seem to be crashed in last two weeks.
. That was your first car too wasnt it? I hope it all goes well, and you could buy a second e30 for parts? (although it may cost too much to get another tech 1, perhaps one with a smashed front?!). Best of luck,
Paul

dominitry, the end result of Ԛ£300 fixing that would be terrible. its going to cost alot more than that if you want a proper job.
i can sorce the parts cheap enough the bigest job is the rear quarter being welded in and sprayed properly
it will have a good job done on it he just needs a job now to pay for it

Bit of Brasso and it'll shine like a new one.
thats how mine look new

you may say "it will be a shame to break another m-tech 1". why?
people harp on about they shouldnt be fraged, but when they have holes the size of dinnerplates on the floorplan and arches made from cardboard/p40 then whats the point of keeping them on the road.
im by no means sugesting that yours is a rusted heap.
but in the real world your car is worth(to the public) about a grand. if you want a proper repair then its going to cost you close to this. chaos, bodywork is never cheap, mates or trade regardless.
the vultures are circling......
you wont have any problems shifting the parts.

No problem Craig , my turn of phrase and twisted sense of humour are often misconstrued!. Smashing your chariot hurts in more ways than one.
Now lets get back to business, Jon wants the trim, i want the diff.......

I'd NEVER take my sport on the track when its done! Come to think about it, id never have taken my iS or my dolphin grey 325 (pretend SE) on a track either... quality solid cars shouldnt be tracked unless you have money to burn... in which case, you dont drive an E30 as a daily.. you drive a ferrari 360.
why not ?BrAdZ wrote:really sorry to read/see this.
I was going to take mine on the track........ Not now!!
id been driving that car all day - and i wasnt taking it easy.
car was superb, even in the wet.
the accident was unfortunately just that, an accident - due to inexperience.
as for not tracking an e30, well there were far far more expensive cars there yesterday including several elises, scooby, ariel atom, e36 m3.
cars are for driving, sporty cars are for driving quickly.

Oh i dont regret taking it on track, i bought a quick car for a reason, its a hobbie just an expensive one, i highly reccomend taking it on track just be a bit more carefull than i was.

I've got to say i disagree with that, as long you drive within your limits you should have no issues - no matter what car you have got. Also if money is your big concern you can always get trackday insurance?SCOTT325SE wrote:I'd NEVER take my sport on the track when its done! I've been on 4 trackdays this year with not one incident......
Sorry to see your damage

i said UNLESS you have the money to burn... i dont, thats why i'd never take mine to a track.
I don't have money to burn either as i have no job, but it seems to be working out pretty well!
And as i said, you'd be fine on track as long as you don't over do it, which sadly i did, I'm only a youngster so lacking in the common sense area.

Sorry to see that. Must be gutting.
Scott said you can't get a lot of bumper parts from GSF... but you can, as I replaced ALL my bumpers on my chrome cabby from GSF... metal caps, rear rubbing strip, etc... everything. You just have to ask over the phone.
Hope you get it fixed. Mind you, my identical Tech1 Sport was a lot worse than that after some woman wiped the back of mine out... repaired it, looked great, but I felt it was never the same car, even after a BMW OEM repair job... sold it on. Wonder where it is now...

thing is dominitry, chances are u mught spank it agian on track. Have u passed your test now?
U will have a very hard time replacing it, IF it's as good as people are saying
As we all know 95% of M-tech 1 sports are dead or on their last legs, prangs, cracked heads, rust and council owners have seen most of them off now.
Sports were made for the road M3's were made for the track!

Hi Craig
Didnt get to speak to you yesterday and you seemed a little preoccupied at the end of the day
- I was the one who left in the black XR3i at the end of the day.
Glad to hear the damage isnt to bad and that its going to be repaired and that youre ok.
Got a Vid of you and Richy on track. I will post it up in the Vids section shortly.

Simon, i dunno mate tbh, i would buy another e30 for the next trackday in march but the sport handles so well, i suppose i could try out a normal 325i, but yea whatever happens i will remain a proud owner of a tech 1.

true, it's all too easy to get carried away on track.
I think track days are great but u must remember to drive at 90% not on the limit. As most of us are not pros and have invested alot of time and money in our cars.
Just what i learned at the 'ring! As we saw way too many accidents for my liking. Track was shut 4 or 5 times the day we were there and it was well over 30 degrees heat! Made us all think a bit more, apart from Davetouring!

I was there too. I was in the tatty stripped out grey 325i. I didn't see you accident, but to be honest i'm surprised alot more people didn't come home with damaged or totalled cars!! There were a lot of spins and near misses, god knows how that scooby went home in one piece. I saw the state of the green M powered e30 at the end of the day
Ah hiya mate, that silver 325i wasnt going slow!

Aye, on 27th of this month, glad i crashed it on track instead of on the roads where i could hurt someone.Jhonno wrote:Simon13 wrote:Have u passed your test now?

Thats why trackdays are a good idea. Gives you the chance to drive harder than you should on the road. Everyones there for the same reason and with the marshalls etc its gotta be the safest place for it.Dominitry wrote:glad i crashed it on track instead of on the roads where i could hurt someone.
