No, not in the slightest.

We need to replace this ridiculous "Market" with third party cover for all motorists paid for out of the ridiculous price of petrol. Sadly it will never happen because several thousand people will be thrown out of work, some of them completely blameless.
On the other hand, we'd never have to hear another direct line or go compare advert again.

I don't like (as many I'm sure) paying a massive premium upfront on the off chance I might have an accident etc etc. It would make more sense to me, to pay the excess upfront and pay the remainder of the premium in the event of a claim.

Even young drivers could afford £200 upfront to start the cover, and I'm sure they would drive more careful to avoid paying the remaining £2500-£3000 if they do have an accident. Some of the young guys at work have the attitude of 'I've paid my £3000 so I can drive like a dick and all I'll have to pay is another few hundred quid if I hit something'.

Maybe the attitude of all drivers would change with the thought of having to pay out a large amount of money if the worst happens, rather than the relatively small excess.

Pie in the sky thinking I know, obviously not that straightforward to implement and I'm sure the insurance companies wouldn't like the idea of only getting the small amounts of money upfront.

Insurance only works if you pay up front :(

RSA, there are the wankers that want 33% of the pre accident valuation to buy back at Cat D damaged car
Pre accident valuation is £4500
Their estimated repair costs £5000

It's my dads car which has been hit by an uninsured driver.

I have asked them why the buy back is so so high, I've explained that there's no benefit to me to buy it back and repair it because I'd end up with a cat D car now worth less but owing me £6500

I've also mentioned that most other insurers will waiver the XS if hit by an uninsured driver but why they will not extend this courtesy to me

I've also provided them with enough information on there whereabouts of the uninsured driver/owner the car and what they are doing about it ?

It's been 3 weeks and still no reply from them
