Yeah that is the way it is heading prices going down for e39s unfrotunately or fortunately depending on your viewpoint.

It is a bit of a shame i think that they fall into the wrong hands and dont get looked after properly considering they are great cars. I wouldnt call a nice spec e39 facelift a banger lol but that is different to a early neglected n reg e39.

e34s i dont think there are many gd ones left now even m5 le 3.8s :-( my uncle used to have a e34 525i se with leather supercold aircon last of the line....i thought it was the dogs bollocks at the time in 2000.......he even took it up to 140mph numerous times lol and i think it was rechipped.....it made me wonder what a m5 le 3.8 was like with nurburgring suspension and lust after one?

anyway back to topic........joe blogs on the street would consider any old bmw a banger including e30s unfortunately but that is just the way it is.

PS saw a 1980 W reg astra on the A4 today had to stop and look twice as i could not believe it and could not remember the last time i saw one of them on the road.

Again some models/specs more than others!

I agree they are getting on a bit for sure, but nicely specced facelift models are still quite desirable unless of course you are fortunate enough to be spending a fortune on very late high end cars (which I am not remotely)!

To be fair, calling E39's "old bangers" is a generalisation and unfair but any owner of one should not get above their station and think they have something special, M5 and Alpina aside.

Mark 1 astra, I havn't seen one for all of ten years!

I remember my dark blue e34 535i SE with cream leather and 18" Alpinas, I also thought it was the mutz nutz at the time! It was my first BM though :D

Completely off the op's topic though :o:

E34's have been through their banger stage and it really shows now, loads of festering late spec turds, really hard to find a good one for reasonable money which is why im reluctant to swap mine for anything, certainly not an E39 of any spec.

Analogue clocks are

Still firmly there.

Numbers are dwindling though.

By banger stage I meant have been bought in reasonable condition and driven into the ground, used as bangers and now just shitters!

I think E39s and E34s will eventually recover once the scrap has been cleared from the market, but like the E12, they'll always be a niche thing with less popular appeal than the smaller sports coupes (2002, E30 etc).

My dad has an E39 520i. It's immaculate in every way. Never wanted for anything. The interior looks like a 2 year old car - he dumped me on the side of the road a few years back for opening a chocolate bar inside it!! It's worth banger money - about £750 on a good day. So much car for the dough if you find a good one and are prepared to pay to keep it running right..

No they wont, like Barry said, only the special models will be worth anything, you cannot compare them to E12's :?

i guess if we have a look at BMW history then you are probably right......e.g. e28 5 series i dont think go for much except the M5......the original 7 series.......do not go for much see BMW Car magazine

why do good E21 323i vehicles not go for much?

E21 323i prices are climbing, I've been looking, and for a completely mint one, you 'll pay the good end of about £6k, for the Alpina versions, look to pay about £20k, plenty of adds in Europe to look at for those prices.

To value a good one, first you would need to find it ! :)

I would love to get a ride/drive in a mint E21 323i its always good to know where the E30 came from and the later E46 started from.

PS if any of you read the latest issue of practical classics they got e21 320 which had about 3000 miles on it......and BMW Park Lane who own the car basically did a total restoration on it and now use it as a show car........i sat in it.....words cannot describe it in terms of originality..........REALLY COOL. I only sat in one e21 320 before and it was on its way out......good to know what they feel and look like when new. Imagine going to work in that.

We should have a constantly updated directory of E30 sale/sold prices for all models across the range that sell either on here, the bay, ph etc....

That way, we can all have a good idea or where ours is/where ours is headed in value....

TBH, i dont care what my sport is worth now or will be in years to come. I will never sell it and i enjoy it for what it is, a cool old BMW in mint condition.
