3k will buy you a very good car , just hang on for the right one, don't be fooled by the over priced scrap out there,

3k will get you a nice car fella, jjst bide your time and spend the time looking about at all the ones for sale and on here and read and ask questions and post up potentials your looking at, and youl get a feel for what you want, that cars an overpriced turd id say..there was/is a really nice lookign silver 4 door 325se for sale on piston heads in scotland tho, for £1500 reacenly i saw, looked really nice !!!

ask yourself...do you really need 4 doors ? , 2 door e30s are more sporty and better looking if your saying you want an mtech kit/sport, and aplinas etc

good luck

Have you ever owned/driven an E46 330i? An easy 30+mpg on a run and very reasonable economy for 231bhp.

Some M54 donks have a bit of a thirst for oil and normally need a litre every 1000 miles. £3K ones are a bit of a minefield but a decent one is a lot of car for the money and infinitely preferable to an E30 325i as a daily driver, especially at this time of year.

This is my old moredoor. It had bk reps and a very tatty leather interior from a two door in there. It was rotten as a pear when I sold it two years ago for £700. When I bought it it was a Alpina C2 2.7 replica. I sold the genuine badges and dashboard plaque then took a few bits I wanted from it and sold it on. The bk reps were like new though. Unless he's replaced a LOT of metal steer well clear!!

£3k will buy you a very good E30! There was a truly immaculate 318iS for sale on here not that long ago for £2850.

If you're spending that much you can afford to be uber-fussy and shouldn't have to even consider buying into rusty or problem-ridden cars.

a nice tidy unmolested E30 is the way forward. Though if you want some better comfort and safety features an E36 could be better. Only joking coming from 2 wheels to an E30 is much more up your street. Well from cbrs to E30s seemed the way to go for me and I haven't been disappointed over any mile I have travelled in one.

Especially ones that have been driven through a hard winter with lots of loverly road salt! The problem with talking up E30s as modern classics is that it attracts more attention from cowboys....
