Si mate just do what dave does. Get a cheap motor like the civi to use for work everyday.Easily somthing under a grand thats quick like that and probably good on fuel. Then drive the sport for pleasure.

I know what you mean though, i got very bored of mine at times though.

Such as some light de-chavving? Perhaps on the rear and the side skirts? I wonder where that thing of yours is now anyway, it was last seen on the zone over a yr ago right?

what no i like the way they were done, nothing wrong with modifying cars imo - some things are chavvy but one thing that really makes things chavvy is when they're done wrong tbh...and mine wasn't!! (cue some interesting replies...lol)

no idea where it is btw...last i heard the guy was wanting Ԛ£2.5k for it, i part ex'd it for Ԛ£1.25k and they had it up for sale for Ԛ£2k!!

You need a van for work, then when you get in the BMW after driving the van it's better than ever.

Or, you need a turbo.
The van bit works for me! i drive a VW t4 (1.9D, no turbo...) all week long, when i get a chance to drive my iS i love it! thinking of it, i haven't driven the E30 for at least 10 days, may be longer.... probably because it's got no juice in it, and i'm skint! customer due to pay me tomorrow though! yipeeeeeeeeee

LOL first time i've heard anyone sing the praises of an e30 gearbox!!! even with the z3 conversion they still need arm extensions of the sort inspector gadget would be proud of...only a real short shift kit (like dale has/had?) is anywhere near a decent shift!
the tractor comment applies to the length of the gearstick

as for your e30 boxes, most gearboxes dont select too well when wrapped round a tree

The gearbox on my 323i isn't so great. I have a short shift (I think it is the Z3 one) and had the bushes replaced too. The movement length isn't too bad, it could still be shorter but it is definately much better than standard, but the change isn't so great. I think my gearbox might be worn out which wouldn't help (whines in 1st and leaks a few drops of oil every now and then) but it baulks, sometimes quite badly on the 1st to 2nd change, and none of the gates seem too well defined. I am never 100% sure that I have got 3rd gear when I change from 2nd, I usually do get it right but it always feels more like I just shove the gear lever in the general direction.

I actually have a small car as well (my first car a 1974 Mitsubishi Lancer, when they were RWD) and I actually find it more fun to drive than the E30, sorry guys. It's a car I never want to get out of and I never get tired of. Unfortunately my sister had an incident with a tyre wall in it and it isn't really repairable :( . I am hoping to buy another though. It gets much better petrol, actually caries people better because of 4 doors, and is more fun to drive than my 323i. I still wouldn't sell my 323i though, I would have both and drive them equally.

Simom, why don't you just sell it and buy something else? E30s aren't the *only* cars available you know....

well sell it and buy a tourer then, or a cab, or even a micra (?)

I quite like the idea of a bubble shape micra (mk2?) with a twin cam lump out of the sunny ZX or the Almera GTI etc. Keep it looking relatively standard and have some fun.

and this is where you will all think I have really lost the plot...

Been having depraved ideas recently about the old Volvo 240 Saloons. Thoughts of them being RWD and having a bit of a retro look about them, what about sticking in the T5 lump and slamming it? Would take a few people by surprise.

Mr beemerman these dangerous ideas must stay as thoughts only!

320touring u interested in buying my chariot then?

Got some brand new hartge ARB's yesterday should keep me happy for a while!

Micra would be dangerous with all that power the 1.0's have about 40bhp as standard.

I like to think of if as Avant Garde! We've got to try these things every now and again. The retro boxy and unspecting looks of a Volvo 240 GLT Saloon, dropped into the weeds with the 5'pot T5 motor. Now that's gotta be a Q car if ever there was!

they are the least car you expect to see thunder past you and I quite like the retro / angular look of the saloons. They must be capable of handling as they have been raced as saloon cars and rallied.

If in doubt, a nice 5.7 Chevy V8 would do the trick!

OK so I should be certified, but who cares eh!
