A lot of these cars went out to the middle east and were subject to some 'interesting' styling enhancements 8O
The glass area looks M1 so i am fairly confident that underneath it is the real deal.
Come on Jamie get us some new close up pictures. A few of the M1 would be good as well ! :)

The owner (My boss) will be starting work on it soon, apparently it needs some new injectors.

A real M1 has an M88 engine, basicly tan early version of the straight 6 24v dohc that was used in the E24 M635CSi and the E28 M5.

I'm convinced thats a kit car.

It doesn't have the swage line of the original either and the door handle looks different to, the one on the purple turd looks like an E28 one and the red M1's handle does not look the same.

Come one Jamie if you work there get some pics of the engine bay!

I am not.. The glass is identical, as are some of the lines and shapes in the car

I think it is an M1 covered in some gash fibre glass kit of some description 8O

Sorry, I finished there and have moved back up North.

Jobless and potless.

It was definitely M1. Had Alpina steering wheel, gear knob, seats.

It was a very strange thing.

That doesn't mean anything, i could fit an alpina wheel, knob and seats to an escort if i wanted to.

I guess we'll never know.

This is the replay when I sent Alpina them self an email about this question:
Hi Erik, as you know, ALPINA is primarily known as a Company with a lot of honors inMotorsports in the 1970's.But ALPINA had never produced a Motorsport version of the M1. ALPINAconsidered to continue the M1 project after it's cessation. But the formermarket sutiation did not allow that.I hope that this answer is not to late. regards from ALPINA Andreas Andreas SchneiderVerkauf / Automotive Sales ALPINA Burkhard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co.KGAlpenstrasse 35-3786807 Buchloe Mail: andreas.schneider@alpina.deFon: +49 8241/5005-132Fax: +49 8241/5005-80132URL: www.ALPINA.de
