Well what can I say?!

WOW WOW WOW for a start

Brilliant effort by Iain and Ziggy and by all concerned in the organising.marshalling and generally helping out on the day,and Dips,Kos and Daryl for the SnS

Although the Beaulieu caterers are far from being the worst or most expensive I have come across ( try going to Goodwood for the true meaning of ripoff ) it is a pity we are locked into them by condition of getting the grounds

Almost universally positive feedback and future years will be even more fantastic

I can hardly wait for next year
As I get older I realize that you can't please everyone - pissing everybody off is however a piece of cake

So pleased we're getting such positive feedback from the clubs.
Obviously mistakes were made, especially being the first show, but with helpful comments, both positive as well as negative, and we have the potential to do a lot better next year, despite it being fab this time around.
Bloody knackered yesterday, sorry to those I didn't say goodbye to, I just got to the point where I just wanted a bed. Left about 4, got home, fed the cat and slept till morning...

Tell you who else were ENORMOUSLY impressed - the small contingent from the Kharmann Ghia Drivers Club

The 3 people who came had elected to try our show even though the KGDC had thier own meet this weekend

I have their contact details as they want to send a full entry list next year

I will email them to give them the dates

In fact I would suggest that perhaps we should contact all clubs ASAP with our dates and the polite suggestion that when they draw up their next year's calenders ( especially for their big annual/ local regional events ) that maybe they could schedule around our dates - thus leaving their members free to attend our show either individually or as a club- we should also emphasise what a massive success it was for a 1st effort and that it has the potential to be one of the "Big ones ".

eg there wasn't a single Beetle Club there yesterday - that alone could have meant a couple of hundred cars more -

Beetles would have been at BugJam which was also this weekend. Hence no show.

Disappointed by the lack of Porsches and Mercedes too, mostly BMWs and VWs, which you'd expect, but a shame there was such a low turn out of 'the rest'.

Yup Gord I knew about Bugjam hence my comment about advising early :)

One of the Porsche clubs had also confirmed attendance so the no show was a bit of a pity really

Hopefully the word will get around anyhow from the few Merc and Porker guys who were there ( eg Spook winkeye ) but I do see the need to make an early start on next year's publicity

Now i`ve caught up on sleep i can bare to look at this bright screen again! And i`d like to say thanks again to Iain and the crew for putting this together cos i really enjoyed the show and was impressed at the turn out of really nice cars. If the other clubs put as many cars togehter as the zone did this will be huge.

Great potential at a great choice of venue, well done all. :D

:thumb: Yes, I did notice the comment, and wholeheartedly agree with it.

Very pleased about the Karmann Ghia boys too, giving up one of their own meets to "come and try our show out" was very good of them. :D

What a show. Thanks to all concerned for making it a great weekend. Exellent venue, not just german cars but all the museum cars as well. Will definitely be their next year. The best show this year for me. Thanks again :D :D :D

Hello Iain,

Just wanted to drop you a line and say how much we enjoyed the show.

Obviously, it was a bit slow on Saturday but we think it did you justice on Sunday. For
our part, I wish that more of our members had supported it. I will be writing a report in
our club magazine and hopefully stimulate some interest for next year. Thought you might
like a couple of constructive observations:

A bit more information available to participants. We weren't sure how to go about getting
a breakfast as advertised. Also, the event wasn't advertised very well at Beaulieu
itself. We didn't see anyone coming from the museum into the show or was this deliberate
on Beaulieu's part? There were a lot of German cars in their car park.

Finally, what about extending the German theme with catering (german food, although we
are "vege"!!!) and entertainment (oompah band etc).

Every year we attend The British Volkswagen Festival at Malvern on the first weekend in
July. This is traditionally one of the biggest VW events on the calendar and brings
together all marques from Air-cooled to Water-pumpers. Thousands attend this and if you
could get plenty of flyers to me in time for this we could saturate the event with
advertising?

well done, Mike Shaw

I'd second most of that. Had a few people commenting about coming through the 'no entry' signs to get in, threw me when I got there too... but it doesn't take much.
Beaulieu's advertising was next to none, and noone seemed to know where the Brabazon was or what was on offer there.
German catering is going to be difficult as Beaulieu has us screwed with this one, but maybe an Oompah band instead of the disco next year would be a laugh. Don't know how many would enjoy it though... ???
Glad Mr Shaw enjoyed it, but who is he? What club / car etc? lol

Managed to avoid the sunburn (despite not having an awesome hat), but not had chance to look at any pics yet! Hope to sort them out & upload some tomorrow eve. Need a copy of yours from Fri particularly 8)

Thanks again (to both of you) for all the hard work. Your motor certainly isn't quiet, is it?!

We explored the Oompah band and a local one wanted £750 per day for a four piece band !

General comments on the show are more than welcome on this thread though.

Personally I would prefer German Auto Show, at least then we could get some BMW bikes down too.

Also alot of people may have been more inclined to come if it was made clear from the outset non-german cars were welcome and a seperate non-show area was available for parking of such vehicles.

I wasn't sure I would have a German car available on the day, which caused some confusion, and one other zoner has already expressed that they too didn't want to show up in a non german car.

I think for me at least I didn't make any shows last year and this was probably the only one I'll get to this year so to me german car or not it was important I still came.

My point however is still valid, the term car would also exclude commercial vehicles and caravans too.

Have you ever met a BMW bike rider? They arn't your normal cow skin clad organ donor thug.
