Burn outs are safer than drifting... just.

Maybe he'll be content with smoking his tyres in one spot? :)

Safe until he slips off the brakes (I'll let you speculate why the pedal may be slippery) and launches into a wall!

Pony, you'd be better off getting a 2.7 conversion and a few tweaks, it would give you much for fun than a digital air vent thingy

I don't see the point on doing all that expense on engine conversion
Better to spend on getting better as a driver

I just want to master drifting a stock/standard/OEM E30 325i Sport

Mine is pretty close to OEM except
Rear bushes - Powerflex
LSD - 40% lock
Front wishbone bushes - E30 M3
Rear top mounts - E46
And that's pretty much it

Why? Buy a dog of a four door or an e36.

Or an mx5 if that's your bag.

Because all the action is in E30 325i Sports
The BMW of choice for any self respecting Yuppie in the 1980s

I don't want a girly MX5 or a lowly 316i/318i
And E36s are just gay compared to E30s IMO

The film 'Shopping' had a cool E30 scene - recommended viewing.

So just buy a 325 four door then - if you're going to be chucking any car into a corner with the intention of going sideways properly then you need to be 100% committed. Not in a car that you'd worry about hitting, as being conscious of that will be likely to only result in you making a mistake.

Tom, what you need to understand is Pony is an idiot and will eschew all advice so he can look like a yuppie or some other bollocks. Let him have his way and we all get a laugh when the inevitable happens :)

Unfortunately so :(

Far better for this to happen to some shed of a four door four pot with an Mxx thrown in, than to a restored OEM+ Sport... :(

This!

It's quite refreshing that Pone doesn't take the precious route with his sport, but when you're learning, as it were, it is better to do it in something that is of little value. Pony is spending big time to get it back to OEM, using only "new, genuine OEM parts" and sport values are on the up......? but hey, it's his car, his choice.
