Got it all put back together properly this morning, but it still hasn't cured the slightly hesistant nature and slight lumpyness when depressing the throttle, it just seems to splutter a bit and also still turns over for a good 5 seconds before firing.
Going to try a different crank sensor (thanks Dan) and see if that makes any difference.
So, no drag strip action going on, I decided to have a bit of a bufty day and wash the car (only been washed 3 times since i've had it) and give it a quick wax as it has had no bufty products on it for about 5 years+.
Took some pics and then the wife came home with her golf looking filthy so I threw a bucket of water over that.
So this is the current active fleet, soarer sulking in the background in a few pics.
Wonky exhaust getting sorted soon

The golf is due some mechanical attention and then it's going off for bodywork in the new year

Well the crank sensor arrived from Dan yesterday and tonight, still wearing the pinstripe, shirt & cufflinks etc I got stuck in & managed to ruin a brand new shirt by getting oil marks on the cuffs, but the good news is the replacement sensor fitted, flicked the key and it fired instantly and you could tell from just blipping the throttle it was a lot more keen.
So a quick blat around the block and OMG, it feels like I've found another 100bhp
I actually let out an audible chuckle when I gave it a quick stab in 1st.
Happy days are here again
Dan, I could bum you

I wondered how long it would be before the jealousy from none members/believers came gushing out.
CR24v will have zero man on man action at all, from any founding members. Let's just move on quietly from the bum talk before Rav wakes up and gets excited.

It's going to be getting some standard BBS RA's, the nasty multi fit are a Halfords £299 wheel & tyre deal from when we first got the Golf. It actually had the Mims on that are now on the chromie, but one was rather bent, so they came off and she was too impatient to wait for some good BBS to come up at sensible money. The halfords rims have since had the original boots replaced with T1-R's though.

That's a proper looking drive though. Puts mine to shame. An 04 tdi Leon, 207 1.4 tdi van and a moordoor shell grace mine right now.
The moredoor shell will be gone once it's donated it's jacking points

Fitted my momo wheel today and it's really made the car a more pleasant thing to flick through the twisties. The car is running so much better too thanks to sorting the crank sensor and the cleaned injectors. Feels like it has got it's mojo back.
Few little niggles to sort still. Got a squeek at the rear end on compression of the suspension over speed humps etc. I'm convinced the rear end has too much toe out. Will get it on an alignment eventually. Probably needs the tracking doing also as I just chucked the E36 rack on with the E36 rod ends, but it does drive straight.
Must have a word with Dan and sort the tacho out so it works, then I can fit the under dash panel.
Mark, I may end up changing the golf engine to the 2ltr ABF lump, the box has slightly noisy bearings, but i have a spare down at the old man's place I'm going to ask him to refurb.
The Golf is going to get some attention soon.
Dezzy is the man and is going to sort some welding of the front jacking points as the MOT is due on the chromie in just over a month, some tweaking of the exhaust system needed also. Just think it's nearly a year since I stacked the touring.
Will be searching out someone for some mapping in the near future too to max out what I've got.

Looks at home mate.
A good re map will change it again won't it. Make the most of the M50 manifold etc.
Get some S52 cams bought and chucked in first. I have a contact.

Stop it Dezzy
Mmmmm, S52 cams, now they will liven it up even more, must be good for 250bhp with a remap on a nice healthy lump like this.
I need to make an effort to get the soarer gone (i think I will genuinely miss it)

Jacking point action today.
Took a schlep up the road to Dezzy's today. To be honest I stood around like a spare part for most of the time whilst Dezzy gave it the good news. Really pleased with how they came out.
Car interior stripped down a bit to save time today fannying about

Got the front end stripped down a bit once it was in the air

Driver side mount after some probing

Passenger side before being molested

After some air chisel action to get the square bottom off

Hello

Dezzy giving it the good news

Ta daaaa

The finished articles

My main role was flame control as the mig had run out of gas, so this was all done with oxycetaline, proper old skool action. This resulted in the sound proofing and any seam sealer inside the car constantly catching fire, so I was on wet rag duty whilst inhaling good lung fulls of toxic smoke
Really pleased with how it came out, thanks a million Dez.
We ran out of time & enthusiasm to really tackle the exhaust properly, it got some tweaking but needs completing, still got a bit of a blow to it.
It's due a run in with the MOT man in the next month, but should be tip top for another year's ticket.
I've got some replacement front wings on the way which will smarten up the front end a bit.
The interior will get put back in this week when I can be arsed as I need to clean up the front footwells and get some paint on them. The interior smells like a bonfire at the moment
Back on 4 wheels before leaving off for home

I am really please with the way they came out. I am no Beardymat but they will do.
I wish we had had mig gas that's for sure.

Dont worry Dezzy, there arent many people around as daft as me who will spend hours bashing bits of metal about that no-one will ever see again.
