Do people understand what baffles actually are?

On a scorpion exhaust I would be amazed if the centre box is anything other than a twin straight through reso that has is made up of two straight bits of 409 perf surrounded by E Glass. If it does have a supporting baffle, then the chances of that giving up are slim.

When the E glass "balls up" because of excessive heat and a lack of stainless wadding around the perf, then it might howl as there is no E glass to dampen the noise.

It might not even have a baffle in it!

My Scorpion, albeit from a M3 has a separate resonator which is pretty much a hollow silencer,like so...




Not sure how true it is but i heard on standard E30 scorpions (like Pony's) the front half of the centre box is hollow and the rear wadded?

Suppose you could test this by tapping the centre box with a screwdriver, if it pings half way down my theory is true.
If its a dull thud all down im chatting shit.

Whatever is inside the centre box of a 325i scorpion system, it doesn't last and the box ends up sounding very hollow.

Just been for another drive in the Sport

Really starting to roar and reverb under bridges
Though not quite as loud as I would like
Nice and subtle at idle and low revs

The engine actually feels smoother and like a Classic BMW I6. Feels more pokey. I think had helped.
