That rear end looks fantastic Trev, if I get mine looking half as good as that I'll be more than happy.
Rear trim looks good imo, might try one on mine.

Just got back from working on it all day. Not many photos but the end result was that I took it for a blast round the block to put some fuel in it. Drives very nice, feels very tight on the rear and the new Tech 1 wheel feels absoloutely spot on. LSD is lovely and quiet as well.
Feel it needs a wheel alignment though but the tyre pressures may be all over the place. It's not seen tarmac since Sept 09
First off, diff oil. Only the best for this baby:

Probably a bit TOO much OEM homosexuality here but f*ck it eh?? (truth is I got this free off a well known Zoner
)

next the fuel lines connected at the front. problem is, couldn't remember the flow and return
. A quick check at the rear to ID the pipe connected to the filter and under the bonnet to ID the hose directly to the fuel rail and voila, two fuel clips later AND??:

She lives again after 16 months!!!!!
With the brakes bled and the fuel flowing it was time for it to sit on its GSD2's again:

Heres how she sits after a spin round the block:

I then took the time to replace the auto shifter from one we broke a while ago. Mine had shit wiring loom so this was a nice end to the day.

And how I left her!!!

Cruise control next then MOT!!

When you're ready witht he cruise mate. The box of bits is all in the boot of it waiting. And yes, the speedo green adaptor is present
That hoon down to Gaydon the first year Barry and I went together was hilarious. I can't remembr the actual time it took but lets just say we were early

It's covered in oily fingerprints and waxoil overspray. It needs totally detailing before it sees any shows etc.

This came about when Si brought the C2 touring over for the arches to be TFR'd. We decided to see what could be done with the drivers side with a bit of elbow grease. Si asked what polish I used and we proceeded to discuss Meguires and Autoglym, pre cleaners and clay bars. I stated it was all b0ll0cks really and proceeded to pull out a bottle of (was it Tescos?) car wax which was in offer for a quid a bottle. It may have been Halfrauds own but bottom line was it was cheap shite. The difference was amazing and it has to be said, for a quid, even Si was astounded!
Have to add, I do NOT use it on this car!!! Well maybe under the bonnet and in the shuts

Hoorah!! She's back at my gaff!
Do appear to have an issue though. Under hard acceleration from standstill turning right I'm getting a nasty vibration from the offside rear (I think). Good as gold pulling out left and ok straight ahead. Only turning right
I'll need to get under it check it out. Drives a straight line as well. Maybe I've missed a bolt to tighten or something.
But at least shes back home

It's gonna be something like that. Funnly enough, thats the side I had to keep dropping the beam on to get the rear arm in and also the side I dropped the bottom of the shock a few times as well. I'm sure I bolted it all up properly though. Must have missed onee30topless wrote:Awesome ! ready for some good weather summer cruising![]()

Thanks guys.
Spent 5 mins under there this morning and everything appears tight and as it should be. Spoke to Si this evening and we agreed that as the vibration (tramping almost) happens when the weight is off that wheel, it could be Shock top mount. These I replaced about 4 years ago with genuine items and have probably covered no more than 2k miles.
This evening I was out there so i grabbed the rear arch on the passengers side and lifted and droped the car. Nothing! Did the same the drivers sdie (where I suspected the issue was) and??? Knock Knock Knock Knock!.
Being a 'vert, these are a piece of p1ss to check so quickly un latched the hood, lifted the rear hood and horseshoe, pulled the rubber covers out the way and? Shreds of rubber everywhere. Did the same pulling on the arch with my fingers under the top cup on the mount and theres bags of play in there. Passengers side also has rubber shards but no play. YET
So I'm hoping I've sussed it!
2 X E46 M3 (although it appears they are the same on all verts and Z4's) cab top mounts being ordered tomorrow.
Can anyone confirm the part number. I'm reading it as:

I had the day off work last week so took the chance to fit the new E46 convertible top mounts on the rear and generally do a few other jobs.winx wrote:yeah but you don't drive as fast as TrevSimon13 wrote:I've probably put 60,000 miles on my set been on about 4 E30's now! they've done 70 laps of the ring too
The mounts I removed had indeed started to split but not horrifically. It seems to have cured the issue on a quick test drive round the block. Will need to get used to the LSD though. I was very close to laying the car up again with it requiring a new front end
I then spent the day prepping and painting a new cam cover, fitting the refurbed alternator and generally detailing the engine bay. I also fitted a pair of armrests that had zero wear or discolouring due to the fact they came out of an indigo interiored 60k 318i
All very HOMO but thats it! Just the cruise to fit and we are done!
Except a certain deviant will be having it on the ramp on Monday 14th at 2pm for an MOT. I'll post how he fairs it.......
