I fell out with him after waiting outside his bodyshop for 2 hours in the snow with the rolling shell on the back of the truck whilst he slept in...
The guy who did this one is very good, and totally reliable..something most painters aren't !

I thought all good painters were unreliable. I've never had a painter yet that has given me the car back on time, even after I've added a day or two, or a week or two for big jobs......e30topless wrote:The guy who did this one is very good, and totally reliable..something most painters aren't !

Hi, I owned that car about 7 years ago. Bought it from Chichester car auctions for £450.00 with a years ticket. Sold it a year later via the same place with an expired MOT for the same price.
Some lad bought it, tried to sell it on the road side but it got vandalised (paint stripper) and it ended up back in Chichester auctions. Lost track of it then spotted it on ebay a year or so later after having had some resto work.
It was originaly converted by a BMW specialist in Bogner Regis from a kit of parts supplied by Hartge.
Was a great car, loved it, if I'd had the space at the time I'd have kept it. Was on 170 and something thousand miles at the time and ran great, sounded awesome.
Anyway, glad to see she's still doing the rounds and good luck the the resto.

No pics I'm afraid. She looked good when I had her but there was a fair bit of rot under the body kit.....thinking about it though, she had chrome arches fitted, sounds naff but with the other chrome didn't look too bad. Though I suspect they were there to hide more rust.
The interior was standard apart from a Cobra bucket seat that I fitted as the drivers was worn out and a Momo wheel as the orig Hartge one was hanging.
The exhaust was mostly original but patched up like you wouldn't believe.....a fair bit by me. The silencers were all Hartge but the sound deadening had all been blown out over the years and the connecting pipes all patched up.....sounded ace though.
That car seems to have survived where most would've been broken up for bits!
You gonna keep her or move on?

Interesting stuff ! I suppose it has seen all kinds of things at 26 years old,
It is going to be part of a private collection and won't be used once finished, except by me on the odd occasion when the sun shines

It does Dez, but in E36 guise ! I remember when good E30's were given away at auction, I now regret snapping em up !
Yeah, you get some odd stuff in Chichester car auctions. There's currently a manual xj40 Jag, tidy and low miles, previousely owned by some bloke who designed Bluebird....or some such record breaking speed machine. It's got newspaper clippings spread out on the dash top. It's been in there for months.
It's a strange setup as in cars don't actually go under the hammer but you can wander in and make a bids on them.

Hit a bit of a Dilemma today,
went to the stealers for some bits and decided to order the windscreen ..
I have used Bronze tint glass on this car and had hoped to have a toptint screen. I have seen them in green but never a toptint in bronze ?
Bmw list a bronze screen but it doesn't state if it is a toptint and the parts guy doesn't have a clue !.. does anyone know if they are available ?

Nope. No genuine BMW bronze top tint screens.
Only green.
I had an after market bronze top tint once so if you can live with that then contact some of the screen specialists.

at Last the powder coating is back ! now I can crack on and get this turd rolling
spent today throwing this lot onto the car, Billy's and H&r's

I did ask for Matt powdercoating
not sure about gloss ?

anyway it looks nice and shiny under there..
hard to match the Hartge colour on the ARB's but he came up with something very close,

had the front cross member thingy done too,

I think these should stop it nicely !

and then I find that the front top mounts Haven't arrived so i can't finish the front legs and get some wheels on
nothing like new Fog Light's....

with a bit of luck I should be dropping the lump in soon,
