Yes, I did think of that, but forgot to include it.
jbh wrote:yes there would be a cost of sending out this through the royal mail but this cost could be taken from the trader's fees
It might mean the fees (not that I have any clue as to what they are) would have to go up a bit, but a genuine trader wouldn't mind, would they???

exactly.. I would also have it recorded and signed for as this way you would be able to check who signed for it at that address.. fair play it might not be the person its for as it could be there wife but at least it would give a name..

so what about those of us that don't have a landline number? (& before you ask i use a 3g dongle to go inline).

a while back i used to break the odd car for parts & sell them through the free add's paper's & all i ever put was my mobile number.

i'm looking at going into breaking the odd e30 from time to time & i will gladly pay any fee's up front & have my details checked out just to make sure i'm legit & not a scammer/rip off merchant.

forgot to add that when i sold any parts i wouldn't post them so if you wanted them you had to come & get them (from a mates yard where they were all kept) that way you could check they where what you wanted before you paid.

now i know that wouldn't allways be possible on here but there are allways ways to sort it.

landline numbers aren't that checkable.. I could get a landline number for most major cities that I could give out and they would call me through skype and you would be none the wiser... if you have a skype mobile phone you can use it and most ppl would think there calling you on a landline number...

TBH, I prefer buyers (not that I've sold much) to see my stuff before they hand over the dosh. The same with buying - if at all possible I'd rather see what I'm buying first.

thats my point fella :)

if i'm selling somthing i prefer the buyer to come & see it first before handing over the cash therefore avoiding the "he ripped me off the parts where scrap" type of complaints.

i hear all your ideas but they make no difference at all, as this guys details are all on page 2 of this post, made no difference, does not prove anything and the zone cant check any further than that into people or protect anyone, you have got to be careful and buy from people known on here for a while years even, yes there is a problem that is being looked into, i still think that newbie and wannabe traders need to be on here 6 months before be able to sell on here, if they dont like it , tuff bye bye.

andyp it doesn't matter if somone has been on here 5min's or 5 years selling parts on & off you still stand the chance of getting ripped off, true what tony doe has done will only give this place a bad name but at the end of the day you stand as much chance of getting conned on here as you do on ebay/gumtree/swapz etc.

all you/we can do is just let the mods/admin see what they can sort out to try & stop it happening again.

What about new traders being paid via Paypal until they build up positive feedback?

This situation really sucks but I'm not convinced verifying details is going to help much. I think all we will see is scammers working together to circumvent the verification system.

Add to that I'm not sure any of the team can devote enough time to run the system, I know I can't. Sorry people, We do our best but it seems to be changing from my hobby to my work these days and I am not convinced that is fair to the team.

Ebay do not make you verify anything from what I remember, Plenty of scammers on there. It's the worst bit of the internet imo. :(

I whole heartedly agree with AndyP. The old giffer speaks the truth.

There will always be people looking to abuse any system.
As always buyer beware!

Agreed the trader thing gave this pr1ck a better cover to con from. If this could be changed so you have to earn the right to be called a traider all the better. Maybe like the newbie thing?

Every 10 pos feedback you move up a rating?

Most traders on here are great IMO, honest, helpfull and have what you need. This guy is obviously not welcome on here. Ban him quickly before he can make a mug of anyone else.
Let's not forget how many good deals everyone (well defos me) has had on here though.
The zone is not at fault it's users like this that will find a way to abuse any system.

Just my 2p.
I feel sorry for anyone who has lost money.

what a load of rubbish dez.... :P sorry, thought you would get all big headed if you received 4 compliments in a row :D

I like the feedback idea but we would need to up our game when it comes to leaving feedback. maybe a more formal 'scoring' system. i certainly know i only ever receive any form of feedback for maybe 1/4 of my dealings on here and this. i have no idea how much work this would be so i'd better ask a ubertechynerdmod to see if it's doable :D

Ha ha thanks Gareth I was starting to strut about the kichen abit.

Like I said it's just an idea. I know nothing of this techy world you refer to. I just think that on the hole the Zone is great.
When things like this come up they need looking at but knee jerk reactions do more harm than good. Every deal I have had on here with many different Zoners have all be 100%.

A feedback system has been mentioned before and it could be visible under the seller .
Rather than have the feedback system we have at the mo as half the time people cant find the seller .
Did anyone keep his ebay username ?

i bought a tech1 rear bumper off steve about a month or so ago. Didn't turn up for a while so i mailed him and similar reason - left for someone else to post out but didn't get done etc.

In the end, i managed to get my bumper after some delays - 'steve' delivered in person.

I've just read this thread and feel gutted for anyone ripped off by this bloke, i personaly only dealt with him once when he bought a manifold off of me, he turned up, payed then went, don't even remember what he looked like. Just checked my phone and i still have his mobile no. if this helps anyone get their cash back.

Nothing like a little pressure and making it obvious that there is alot of people watching your every move to make you see sense.

Hopefully that £650 will get refunded. Fingers cross.

Its true, buyer beware.

BUT

This guy has got this scam down to a tee. He knows the ins and outs of the E30 scene, has lots of details, and has good solid answers to hard questions.

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... tevetaylor

Is that the only feedback thread for him?

I've yet to see 'steve' come and defend himself. Are we sure he's not on holiday with an extra bit of cash?

I can understand the sentiment of the people who have been ripped off. However, I'm sure there are zoners out there who have had good experiences with him. I know when i buy so many things and the purchase has all gone well, i do sometimes forget to leave feedback or start a feedback thread unless the buyer/seller reminds me. Its not the same if you are unhappy though as its the first thing you would do!

I have bought a few things off steve/tony/taylor [albeit delayed], nevertheless it does not justify what has happened.

I think 'Steve' should reply and give his side to the story, give a refund or deliver as originally agreed. After meeting the guy, he seriously didn't seem like a scam artist and I am a pretty good judge of character.

On the other hand, if he doesn't reply or get in touch and really has scammed you - I'm sure the zone will never let him enjoy that cash :).

I've seen a reputation system which relies on feedback from other members on forums before. That seemed pretty cool and pointed me in the right direction sometimes!

No One Has Been Ripped Off!!

I have just got back from my hols and have been directed to this thread by a Zoner.

E30sleeper did order a bodykit and pay using PAYPAL for the kit. The bodykit was shipped out to him with parcelforce tracking number pg23579933 . The kit arrived and was signed for unfortunatley to the wrong address the kit was in Switzerland not Canada! E30sleeper recieved an M Tech 2 fixing kit instead of the kit..The Bodykit is still in Switzerland and we are still trying to get the kit back which is proving difficult as we put the value of goods <£100 so E30Sleeper would not have to pay too much tax..Anyway not his problem but my last instructions to the person dealing with this was that E30sleeper was going to return the M Tech 2 fixing kit and could they issue him a paypal refund. I only got back last nite so at the moment I don't know if either of these have been done but will know more later today.

Jonny323i was paid £40 by bank transfer but got bounced back for some reason...as soon as I got Jon's messages lastnite he was paid the £40 straight away.

Mattcyclone bought a set of wheels, I had problems with the first courier and had to collect the wheels then the second courier paisley freight sent citylink who did not have enough room on the van so had to re-book the collection. I thought Matt would have had the wheels by now but I got a message from Matt last nite and now it looks like Paisley will be delivering his wheels today/tomorrow Tracking number is: 20100606122321-A8099.

Unlike a lot of others on here selling E30 Parts I pay my traders fees Every Month(think they have just expired since ive been away!) I buy and sell dozens of stuff every week mostly without any problems. Yes a couple of people have had to wait longer than you would expect and I apoligise for the wait but NO ONE has been ripped off. If anyone has any evidence whatsoever of anyone being ripped of by me then post up the evidence!!!

If you look at my ads they all say collection from Northampton which I prefer rather than sending and many Zoners have been and collected from me, so that to suggest I am selling parts to Zoners and they are not getting them is utter Rubbish. Someone has said ive ripped off loads of people??? WHO has been ripped off??

There have been a few Zone members who have commented on here who I have bought parts off who I have had to keep emailing to get the parts from makes me laugh that they have commented. Also Im very surprised the Zone mods condone some of the comments about 'petrol bombing someones home' and 'hiring a black man to beat someone up' idiots!

Anyone who wants to speak to me face to face not a problem. Anyone else have any problems let me know I am here.
