Hi,
As Ross_jsy said, at 2.7 ratio with a 320mm
diam s/wheel you will require about 50/60%
more effort to turn the wheel.
Does not sound much, and on most Tracks its
OK, but wait till you have been in and out of your
local supermarket carpark a few times, of
had to park in a bay of a Multi story car park.
Puts a whole new meaning to tyre radius scrub.
Regards,
The Gorilla.

hi there.
Asked today Quaife about produce the rack so they told they cannot done it.
"We can confirm that a sample rack was provided to us some months ago for quotation, but unfortunately after
inspecting the rack Is was concluded that we were unable to re-produce it."

IT can be doen and you can buy them but they are £800 from a guy in germany, so either use the z3/e46 quick pas rack or a mz4 manual rack

Sorry for any confusion, I meant I have one of the racks suitable for the conversion, it has not been converted.
Dan, I can send you this one if you need?
Alex
Dan that bottom pic looks like the e30 & e21 quick rack profile I have had in the past

I thought it looked quite a straight cut TBH, do you think that round rack would replace the type shown in the pic above?e21Jason wrote:Dan that bottom pic looks like the e30 & e21 quick rack profile I have had in the past

Dave, I wouldnt even go there, you know you would be leaving BMW with your tail between your legs and no rack

The best bit about the E30 rack is the input shaft is further away from the engine compared to the later E36< racks
Yeah, I would give a guess in the region of 750-1000 quid!
I'm thinking of using a good E30 PAS rack and steering quickener for my drift car as 2 turns and PAS should suit that nicely.
manual rack will just be too heavy I reckon but would be lovely for a track or nice light lightweight E30 with a worked M42 or M52

M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
