an insurance loss assessor will come and look at the damage,if it gets written off you can buy it back for next to nothing, fix it and keep it :D
An assessor may come to you, or the may ask you to drive it to an assessor, but at no time hand over the keys or lose possession of the car
You probably won't even have to buy it back. The insurance will pay up, ask you to surrender the V5C, and try to arrange for the collection of your car. Cash the cheque and ignore the rest.
They won't pursue it, because the paperwork and collection costs exceed what they'll get paid for the wreck.
So what your basiclly saying is that they will ask me to hand over the v5, but just because they are askin me to, dont give it to them yea? Because odviously once, if i give them them the v5 the belongs to them and im screwed yea?
Technically if an insurance company pays a total loss on something they own it. That's why people were suggesting buying it back.
