Is the 320i the worst model?

I would have thought the post facelift would be faster as it has a bit more power?

Me too. Surely, the Motronic must make a fair improvement (having only owned L-jet 320i's, I wouldn't know what they're like.)

I think the diff ratio is partly behind it but someone more expert will come along I'm sure

I have found that early 320s seem to pack a bit more punch. Also Stubeedoo and myself have run 320s with 3.64 diffs and have noticed improvements with regards to fuel consumption.

.....And my arse-dyno couldn't detect any real-world difference in performance.
