bonnet vent.

Bonnet vent made from 100% carbon fiber.
need 10 or more people to get them at $175 (Ã‚£85.81 depends on the exchange rate)
I dont know how much post will be yet.
Easy to fit.

so what benifit does this have dude

or is it just cosmetic mate

Surely that is going to allow water into the engine bay in the region of the dizzy cap

Also when it rains your going to have steam coming out of there when the water meets the engine are you not

No comment as to its appearance.

but like spadge said the water is going to get in there mate as is the frost snow etc

if this is above the engine as spadge says it may cause water to get into the electrics

also you say easy to fit ????

dont youhave to cut the bonnet to fit this ? thats not easy in my book dude ?

if i am wrong then how do they fit ?

Looks good, should give the air coming through the radiator somewhere to go, depending on air pressure there. I'm sure the DTM e30's had a similar vent did they not? You shouldn't have to worry about water on the electrics really, unless you have no rubber boots over any of your plugs etc.

you need to take water under the bonnet serious. BMW does not recomment to jet wash your engine. The OEM plugs are not "that" water tight.

Nervermind, the main thing for the vent is to reduce under bonnet pressure --> less front end lift.
Reduced temperature is more or less a byproduct with these kind of vent.

@ed325 are you just ordering these from he states, or do you actually get them made in the UK? If you order them from the states we need to talk...

you ought to make a deflection plate that goes under the vent and directs the water away from the engine. Series 2 escorts and Fiesta RST's used to have this type of thing fitted in their bonnets under the ducts

arron not a problem in your case as the m42 uses a coil pack away from that area anyway.

yes i though this, just may get rain on the fan

which wont be there for long as gonna get a electric one anyway

so should just hit the undertray i hope

then all i got to do is find someone to fit it god knows i aint goin at my grp bonnet with a damm grinder

spot on! That's the way to go. I am not quite sure how bad the M3 will be in this case. I will play it by ear.

That's an idea, if you can get them made cheaper i'll be up for one.

I was thinking of getting a spare bonnet(or a GRP bonnet) and fitting the vent, then paint it all matt black.

Any idea as to the actual dimensions of the finished product?

I'd be interested,but it would have to fit above the turbo( on the rhs of the bonnet instead of in the middle).
If it's too big, then there's no point in me getting one

OR if you can get ones similar to M3GTR ones i'd have them instead

if you fit directly over a turbo put a plate underneath the vent on spacers to allow rain water to run away rather than hitting the turbo. the turbo hotside ends up very rusty and the steam coming from under the bonnet can be quite embarrasing.
