ANT has since agreed to look into making these up,details and costs to be confirmed!
So if you fancy having bigger brakes on your E30 then this is the thing for you.
As far as i am aware you will need the following parts to go with the above brackets.
750i calipers9540i same?)
Audi TT discs(drilled to suit)
So anyone want to join me in this group buy?

I got mine from a zoner about a year ago, but it's not been a priority job!

Plenty of 540 / 740 / 750s are getting scrapped now the old barges are getting on a bit. Shouldn't be too hard to track down in a scrappy or on Ebay.

Also i haven't got time to read the big brakes thread tonight, so how would these stack up to something like the wilwood kit (£400) thats on ebay? Both for cost and performance!

I drove the conversion with the 750i brake conversion and it was great. More progressive peddle feel and more bite when you want it. It certainly inspires confidence in control of the car.

I'd like something for 15" wheels so I think this rules me out of this one.

There needs to be at least 10 you mean mate. The more made - the cheaper the cost. These won't be cheap either so it would be unfair if Ant spends time investigating and people drop out. I'm sure you guys are committed though!

Since this is a new venture I feel that Ant at A-Tech should be offered payment upfront as he is a one-man-band and he can invest 'the E30 love' but it's up to us to come up with the cash in advance to finance the venture. It has more chance of happening smoothly this way too.

I saw the wilwood set up but didn't drive it. Didn't seem as potentially reliable as the 750i caliper rote. The need for a spacer is a pain too after spending all that cash on a supposed conversion kit.

The maintenance cost for the wilwoods would be higher when it comes to caliper repair/replacement time I would imagine. Pad prices are similar according to the ebay wilwood seller.

Well price is obviously an issue for all so far mate as we have no indication of a guide price.
Im under the impression that if we can get a minimum of 10 names on the list a price can be negotiated for us.

Must admit the issue of drilling the discs has also crossed my mind but its obviously been done before?
Maybe weld up the old Audi holes to retain some strength?(just a guess).

Could this create a weak spot on the disc?
I mean its only 1 mmm apparently so could we not just run a mini grinder/dremel round it till it sits on the hub?

You just have to make sure all the machining / filing / drilling is dead central.

As someone said, it's common on 200SXs.
I had re-drilled 300ZX (5 stud) front discs on my 200SX (4 stud). Had them smoking a few times with no problems at all - and my god did that car stop!

So I wouldn't worry about that if it's done properly.

This is easy stuff for a good machine shop so shouldn't be very expensive.

my mate could do the discs for me no problem.

im just a wee bit wary of the drilled holes being close to the originals.....im a gambler though lol.

eko's excuse of its probably been done before wont help me when im flying into a hedge at 100mph on the nurburgring or something lol

Id say drilling would be ok if you made the holes closer on the less frictioned side..

If you see a disc rotate, and then brake it, there will be one side of the holes will be stressed more than the other side. it will mean the discs will then be side dependant... On the pax side, drill the holes towards the front of the car as they rotate, as I believe that these will be the least stressed.

BUT i dont see how that would be more or less dangerous than drilling it on the other side, as that side will have more chance to enlarge the holes as the stress is towards the rear of the car during braking

This needs to be spot on because its what locates the disc.
