PBMW do once a year (most european rounds are FIA scruted). I'm not sure about meeting blue book regs for UK series though. Something like "If the sunroof is removed it must be replaced with similar material of similar thickness". Fantastic idea for a track day car though, and prevents any potential future grot in the roof. Does anybody have a blue book to hand? Would be great if I'm wrong and they could be used for MSA racing as well.
For sale - E30 320i racer project - sold.

I wouldnt of thought that there are any E30's running in FIA Championships now?ross_jsy wrote:You wouldn't be able to use these in FIA events would you?
I am sure these can be run in most championships, but it would pay to check with each organisers 1st. The E46 have run composite roofs in many championships for several years now..

obviously these are only for use with cars that have rollcages, which brace the shell.Jhonno wrote:How does this work with rigidity etc? The roof plays a large part in that..
Finally, someone picked up where performance trim left off...
Please stick me down for a fibreglass one
What is the best method of fitting and why is trimming down and bonding in not the preferred method?
Also can it be finished in gloss black?

if you happy with a 'step' edge then trimming down and bonding on top is fine, and a lot less hassle to fit. but if you want the original factory look, full replacement is the only way.
we can make in black at 15% more, and it could be polished.

I was considering the same thing myself. I'd planned to cut around the outer edge leaving an inch or so, to bond the fiberglass roof panel to. It just depends on how much weight it'll actually save me?mccarthy wrote: i was going to only remove the roof skin and leave the actual frame and cap it with the fibreglass.

Prob not much weight as the roof skin seems pretty flimsy. It's just I ruined the roof getting the sunroof cage out and the skin tends to flap about more than I hoped. It also saves me having to mess about with riveting a sheet over the sunroof hole.
i take it when bonding the roof you ideally want to strip out everything of the old one i.e drill out sport welds etc then bond edges of the grp roof to these points.
Have been planning on getting one of these anyway as my roof has seen better days plus i messed it up when removing the sunroof. Will be handy when putting a cage in too.

Hi Guys, does anyone know anyone who has fitted one of these ? Fibre Glass, GRP or Carbon ? Any documented "how to's" or failing that, can any one recommend a body shop in the West Sussex area who is up to the job and reasonable on price ?
regards
Gus
