Excellent - I'll soon have a nice rebuilt LSD arriving, so I'll need some oil for it...

Can you tell me why I should go with the castrol saf-xj rather than the silkolene boa 90 ls or motul 90-pa? If there is any reason at all then I'm happy to spend the extra money... Cheers

In hte E30 the SAF-XJ is really not needed unless you want it, the BOA and 90pa are fine (and cheaper!)

Hmmm. But *why* are they cheaper? Is it as simple as the cheaper 2 being mineral based?

I'm hoping that a newly rebuilt LSD won't need pulling off the car again for a long time, so I certainly don't want to regret going for cheaper oil! Think I'll probably go for a couple of bottles of the SAF-XJ, for peace of mind if nothing else.

They are cheaper because they are different, the Castrol SAF-XJ is good but you pay a little extra for brand naming and 75w-140 oils are generally more expensive. Nothing wrong with the likes of BOA90ls, its a competition grade oil at the end of the day. If you want its synthetic cousin look at the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90.
