The one we fitted to Agent006's car was fine after some re-welding and "porting" of a couple of pipes on the manifold, shame the rest of the exhaust system was not a match for the downpipe.

"Re-welding" and "porting". 8O

What? Was it really necessary? Or did Agent's car have something else going on?

Mine is ordered and paid for - just awaiting delivery now.

Will let you know how I get on with fitting it. It will be mated up to a Scorpion system...

I've got the dough itching to be spent so I for one will be interested how you do. Especially too as you're mating it up to a Scorp.

I'd be interested in how this mates up to a scorpion system aswell as just had one fitted and would be looking at a 6 branch in the future.

Hi Louise, we contacted the customer whos car/system it was as he supplied the system. Overall we were impressed with the manifold for the price, but we made some small improvements.

I can send you pictures if you would like to see?

The manifold did give a good increase in torque throughout the midrange if I can remember right.

And I would also like to give a big thanks to Louise from our Australian contingent who had our own "mini group buy". The level of service offered by this company has proven itself to be exceptional. Hottuning really outdid themselves to make sure we were completely satisfied with our purchase. We had one issue with a single manifold and that was sorted very quickly. As far as I am concerned Louise and Hottuning have proven themselves to be a very "customer driven" company. Their after-purchase support has been exceptional. I would happily purchase from them again.

And as stated above....you get a lot of product for the money. Well worth it.

Ok folks,
Mine has now arrived, and all seems well so far. I am hoping to fit it to the car in two weekends time so will post some pics when it has done.

One thing I would say to those of you like me who have a pre-cat car, is that the manifold comes with a threaded hole for the lambda sensor so you will need to find a suitable blank as one is not provided.

I will let you know when I find one!!

Cheers,

James

Any exhaust shop would have a bung. Also a spark plug will fit in there as well.

Cheers guys.
I will try a spark plug first.

Out of interest, are all lambda sensors the same size? So will any old one fit?

Thanks,

OK
So last weekend I finally got round to fitting my Hottuning manifold to my Scorpion system and I know a few of you were interested to see how this works.....

I have tried to do this with as much info as possible but if there is anything I have missed out just ask-

Firstly, my car is 1986 Chrome bumper car, 320i, with a 2.7 engine fitted and oil cooler - so in essence you are looking at how this will fit to a Pre-facelift 325i or 320i engine.

Image

The first task, before touching the exhaust is to remove the expansion tank (you can leave it connected but be careful with the pipes) and the clutch reservoir and then remove the oil filter. (NOTE - For future oil services you will have to remove the front part of the manifold to get the oil filter off and on again!)

Next disassemble the exhaust manifold from the downpipe (4off 14mm nuts), then drop the downpipe from the manifold. The next job is to remove the 12 off 13mm nuts holding the exhaust manifold on and remove the manifold.

After this you will want to sepaparte the down pipe part of the Scorpion system from the centre section, which will be held on with 4 nuts and bolts (whatever size used initially - mine were 13mm).

You should have one olive on the downpipe (where it joins to the centre section)
Image

...... and on the other pipe an olive should drop out between where the two flared ends met.

Carefully remove the olive on the downpipe (a bit of emery paper around the tip of the pipe helps here) and fit this to the Hottuning part.

You then need to start fitting the two manifolds into the engine bay (I left the delivery bubble wrap on for this for two reasons 1) So I didn't scratch my engine bay paintwork and 2) so I didn't mark the manifold - this sounds a bit daft but there is a huge amount of fiddling involved getting these parts in so you will tend to knock things). Start wth the rear part and then before bolting it into place (if you bolt it in place the front won't locate!) drop the front part in. This part is probably the most awkward!!

Image
Image

BEFORE bolting them in place REFIT the oil filter.

After bolting the manifolds (you will find all nuts now hard to access) on join the down pipe to Hottuning front centre section (provided). You will see that there is a threaded hole here 18mm by 1.5mm pitch. This will need to be blanked if you don't have a Lambda sensor - a dud lambda sensor will do or get a blank from e-bay.

Now join the back end of the Hottuning part to the front end of the Scorpion Centre Section being careful not to damage the olive on the Hottuing pipe and making sure you fit the other olive between the two flanges on the other pipe.

Image

Once this is done, fit the U bolts to hold the two parts of the Hottuing front system together and make sure the slits are not allowing a gap into the system.

Refit the expansion tank, clutch reservior and check all nuts and bolts are torqued and then have a well desrved cup of tea!!
