i need a new rack to clear my BTB2 and a quicker one might be good (a properly done reco'd stock one here is like 600-700 GBP) so a bit extra is probably worth it

Hi buddy, thats really good news! Do you participate on any other Auz forums?

Depending on final price, would you be interested at all in letting me know anyone else who might be interested? Because the more we get the lower the price! winkeye

Is this for P/S or manual quick racks? I'd like to keep mine manual I think. Even though a quick rack would be even harder than a standard

This has stalled, I received this email a week after i dropped the rack off to them.

"Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, we have had the rack inspected on our CMM.

David and I have carried out a review of both the commercial and technical aspects of the project, and feel that we are not setup at the moment to develop power steering for road use.

It is as a result of our limited test opportunities regarding the safety of a critical component.

This project requires extensive testing and development, which are our investigation reveals that we are not able to pursue this opportunity.

I am sorry that we cannot help you further.

If you would like to arrange collection of the sample unit, I will get this boxed up and in stores waiting for you.

Kind regards"

I am still working on this!

This is the same response I had when I asked a local firm to make a manual rack.

have you considered modeling the exhaust in something like Wave and looking at the pulses, you may find that a manifold equal to the 80s effort can be sorted quite quickly with today's technology.

m3.3.1 m20 thread - now running, chip needed - any volunteers?

I may have gone for this if I didn't already do the E36 rack / custom hydraulic pipes conversion.

An manifold in inconel will be way more than the custom rack. Titanium would be the middle ground and that would still be more.

Custom rack is the elegant and smart way to go - and no dicking about with steering columns. It's an elegant and smart option = not cheap but that's the point.

£1350 is not that much for a special car at all, that already has a tasty manifold - I'd rather retain a rare manifold this than put some common as muck E46 on.
