You don't want to know how much, I promise you ... :(

A laser cut metal gasket is bonded into the base of the rocker cover.
I've seen these on S14.net and would definately be interested in one. I think they were 400 euro's but don't quote me on that.

I Will be giving the Green Light this week to begin making the mould for the E30 Carbon Fibre Sunroof Panel :D

There are 11 people on the list and I would kindly ask you all to be prepared to pay a 50% deposit, then and only then can I proceed.

If you could PM me and confirm, I will then send you Keen's Number (My associate) and he will have the facility to process your deposit. I will then confirm this with a PM back to you as an acknowledgement of payment of deposit.

The reason I have to ask for a deposit upfront is because when I did my first group buy for 10 CF E30 Bonnets, I was left with a big bill as over half the people who had put their name down did not come forward to pay for their Bonnets.

Hope you all understand.

Please though let me know straight away if there is a problem.

Cheers Guys.....

Hey Guys.... Just to update you all with the Sunroof Group Buy. I will have confirmation Monday or Tuesday Next week....Just a technical point that needs to be clarified before we are 100% to go.

As far as price is concerned there should be no problem with the original quote, but I will double check once I have had feedback from the factory.

I have had a few emails from some of you ... Thanks for that, but I am still waiting for others to confirm there commitment >>

I will post a list of where we are...

Hi Ross....

I can do the M-Tech front Bumper in Carbon for you... I will be putting an order in very soon, It will be considerably lighter than the standard item. I have produced E46 Csl ones and they are incredibly light and look amazing. I think price is £450.

Let me Know

Cheers

Mark

Slightly off topic, but depends on how the carbon fibre is made. If its wet layup with a single layer of carbon backed with csm, then near enough the same weight.

If its wet layup with epoxy resisn and pure carbon then about 1/3 or 1/4 weight of the fibreglass part. (dependt on how many layers etc etc)

If its vacuum resisn infused or prepreg, then VERY light is the answer (unless its a load bearing part and has to be reinforced with honeycomb to stiffen the part, but still very light)

Lightness costs money.

Hi Guys,

Here is the latest news.... Sorry it's been awhile ...

I have spoken with the Factory and policy there has changed. Any new part like this one would require a mould being produced at a price, where as before that cost would have been covered by a minimum order e.g.. 10 pieces of Carbon fiber.

The situation now is that it is still possible, but it would require 20 sunroof panels to be produced and an increase in price per panel, which I will confirm.

Very sorry about this everyone.....

I will keep you all updated........ but on a positive there are now 12 people wanting sunroof panels so just 8 more to go !!

And as far as price is concerned I will do my best to negotiate but I do think it will go up :(

Exactly, at the end of the day wet lay is just the same as fibreglass with a nice finish, its the resin content that adds weight.
Prepreg costs so much more because of the consumables that are used and the cost of the material in the first place. Plus it also needs to be autoclaved (although some can be done in an oven with a vac). The weight difference is unbelievable though. At the end of the day I suppose its what each individual is going to use it for and how much they can afford to spend. :D

i'd love to be jumping on this mass purchasing band wagon but my funds have just been roosted on a full respray :(
i was thinking though, as this carbon thing seems to be taking off nicely, i would love a pair of carbon brake ducts and an oil cooler vent in the front of my 2 dr 325  just an idea

Some brake ducts with a round fitting on the back would be perfect for track cars

A wide brakeduct to fill the whole vent when the fogs are removed would be sweet!

If just the standard width to fit road cars too purely for cosmetic gains, the original sqaure backs would e better though and the track cars sort out the sqaure to round piping themselves.
