The RD is a 20+ year old design and its gains have never been proven properly BUT simon's touring makes standard C2 2.7 power with it fitted.

BTB on the other hand is a 5 year old design and has made proven significant gains on standard M20B25's without any other adjustments.
Proven by you by any chance? Until you can prove the RD is worse in design and power output than the BTB (which is a malgamitated copy of the rd and alpina with no development at all) then the WiKi is correct.

:)
Proven by me on two different dynos on the same day!

Other people have proven the gains as well!

SO, as it's PROVEN unlike the RD it's better!

To say something thats unproven (the RD) is better than something that is proven (the BTB) is retarded.

The BTB may have taken some influence from the RD but it is no clone and is nothing like a RHD alpina manifold.

You've only got a boner over the RD because you found it in west Drayton scrap yard.

Come back to the discussion when you can prove the gains of the RD.
So if you had the choice between a BTB one and a racing dynamics one what would you take?

Show me proven gains for the RD and I'll give you an answer. :)

Seriously though, if I had an e30 with other RD parts then obviously the RD.

The RD also has the rarity factor.

Let's get things straight, I'm not trying to discredit the RD, I just would like to see some proven facts before people say one is better than the other.

The fact remains the RD manifold is far superior to the BTB, for a start it has equal primaries, there is nothing equal about the BTB (apart from having six pipes :) ).

Im sure the BTB gained you 15bhp, whats not to say the RD wont make you 20? winkeye

Personally, I cannot justify the spending of at the very least £650 on an exhaust manifold be it proven, unproven or a cure for erectile dysfunction. I would rather put that money towards an m52 conversion. I'm not knocking anyone who's stuck with an m20, it's a lovely engine after all, but my own personal preference would be to junk it in favour of something that gives decent power straight out of the box. As I say, that's merely my opinion and not a slur on anyone else.

That said, I'll be fitting Theos old six branch because it's affordable to me. I built my car on a budget using 99% pre-owned parts and £650 would be about a third of the total build costs so far. winkeye

The RD may or may not give 20bhp but until its proven, it remains to be seen!

Anyone going to Brands on the 24th? It's the last outing before my car comes off the road for a health check and a couple more mods. I want to fit the front splitter and hopefully the 6 branch once I see Theo. I also want to fit a digital dash display (like the one linked below) as the OE clocks are both broken.

Plan to use Harry's i-phone trackday app. Anyone else tried it? If you have an i-phone I'd recommend it.

Nah, this is way more intricate than the Griffin manifold (which is the same as a RHD Hartge manifold)

Had my polycarb windows arrive yesterday from mike Templar. Weighed the rear screen 6kg and the polycarb one was 3kg. Removed the rear 1/4 panel cards which weighed 1kg each (all weighed on cheap bathroom scales) so 5kg down. Will update as I go next week.

New battery weighs in at 5kg. I'm yet to weigh the OE one but feels twice the weight easily.

Had a touch on flea-bay today and bought a SPA digital dash & data logger for sixty quid. Should replace the OE clocks quite nicely.

When I bought my track car I was told it had been fitted with a non-standard ECU chip by the chap who built it. Judging by this print-out though, I'm not so sure. What do you chaps think? (cars not here or else I'd pull ECU apart)

To be honest I don't think the chips do much at all bar raise the rev limit on some of them.

What does yours rev to?

I'm really not sure. The standard clocks only work occasionally and I haven't hit the limiter since fitting a new one.

I know you can read all sorts of wild claims about ECU chips and I'm not expecting much in the way of gains. I'm going to fit one though, just out of curiosity really, then run back down to Surrey Rolling Road to compare print outs. I intended doing the same once I fit Theo's old six branch. That'll be it though, as far as spending money on the old m20. I'll then have to decide whether or not to stick with the e30 and swap engines (m52 probably) or move into an e36 M3 instead?

There's no denying e30's are damn good fun and they can still cut-it on track when they're set up right. Even with a donkey like me behind the wheel. :D

Mirrors are only cheaper ebay ones but quite pleased with them and they weigh half the OE ones.

My SPA digital dash arrived today.

Just been looking at installation guides on tinternet. My life, they're bloody expensive!

Anyone know someone who's a bit good with wiring diagrams and wants to earn themselves a few quid? winkeye

Started gutting my doors. Removed glass, door lock, window winder and as much material as possible the fitted polycarb window. 6kg saving per door according to my bathroom scale

The hole is now covered with a pastic corrugated sheet which weighs next to nothing.

Looking good. In fact, so long as rain stays away, I might get out there and do my doors too. I still need to get some material to make door cards from though.

If you was closer I could give you some. Window seals are still fitted. I expect a small amount of water to come through the windows when closed but with no carpets etc it doesn't really matter.

I get some water ingress, but as you say, with no carpets, it;s not too much of a problem (
unless it rises above the chequer-plate flooring).

Do you not find chequer-plate slippy? I just use grip tape. I get the odd trickle of water but not enough to worry about.

TBPH Hoobs, not had any problems with it. But I really haven't had much water ingress on track. Really only an issue if left out in the rain - on on the rare occasions I've washed the car!

I ask because I had pedals with chequer-plate and unless your feet were bone dry they were much too slippy, which was why I followed advice and went for grip tape instead.

Am @ Brands tomorrow and weather forecast isn't great. It's supposed to be better than today though, so I might be lucky. I'm going to try and get some video footage if I can sort out my camera mount. I might just try bolting it to the dash top as the cage mount is behind my left shoulder, so the view is obscured.

What camera mounts do you guys use?
