HE351 vs HX40 both External WG

I'm not that clued up with turbo specs hence the question. Which would be best out of the two turbos above.

I want 500bhp on a m50 (Stock Internals)
HE351 is 2.5" (hot side) and t3
HX40 is 3" (hot side) and t4

Which would spool better and provide 500bhp in a street setup. I'm not building a drag car, I just want good drive ability with that power.

Thanks

There are multiple iterations of both those turbo's.

If you are concerned with fast spool, I wouldn't consider a Holset. They are heavy duty turbo's that make good power for much cheapness but they are heavy, and are oil journal turbo's.

I am not clued up the HE range, but for that power a HX35 would be better than a HX40.

So would the HX35 HX40 hybrid be the best choice. I appreciate that they're a bit agricultural. I should've also mentioned it's a low budget build. Hence the Holsert route.

Again, there are so many variants, stating a hx35/hx40 hybrid is meaningless. My HX40 18.5cm is a very different turbo to a 9cm hx40. Then there are different compressor types.

For what you're after, I'd go the HE351 out of those 2 choices, presuming you mean the 9cm version? Thats basically a HX40 compressor, HX35 turbine wheel, and a 9cm housing.
A HX40 would just give you a bigger turbine wheel n housing, which there no ned for really. A 14cm or 16cm HX40 will still spool fast, and give more power at any given boost pressure, but in my experience a HY or HE is a lot more fun on a 2.5, and even a HX35 12cm should be.

HX3540 hybrids been mentioned. Well they just same as a HE351 spec wise really but usually with a 12cm housing. Tho some rare HE351s come with that housing too.
They seem to spool as fast as HX35 12cm do, tho at 500bhp I cant see a real advantage of the larger HX40/HE351 compressor.

Even a HY35 is proven at 500plus at 1.5bar on a 2.5ltr, and a HX35 12cm certainly will on a M50 at slightly less boost due to more turbine flow.

Spool is fine too, and being BB means very little with regard to spool anyhow. A 10cm HY35 is proven to hit 1.5bar by under 3k om a 2.5ltr while doing over 500bhp and same in torque, I'd not call that a slow spooler. A HX35 12cm will be spooled about 500rpm later and id say that's pretty damn fast too for a turbo slightly bigger than a Garrett GT3582.

There's hardly any different compressor types, none that make a big difference unless pushing the turbo to the limit.

No such thing as a 9cm hx40 either, in fact closest thing to one is a HE351 he mentioned.

This is what I've gone for:

HE351 compressor housing with 4inch anti-surge inlet and 2.5in v-band outlet.
83mm HX40 compressor wheel with 8 blade 58mm inducer.
70mm HX35 turbine wheel with 64mm exducer
12cm (~A/R 0.82) twin scroll HX35 turbine housing 2.5in v-band outlet

Lets see how it performs
