Hi all been doing some reading and im wanting more power from the m20b25 looking for 300bhp seems achievable without a headache

I am expecting to get shot down here as its been mentioned loads

The things I understand I need and can buy easy are as follows:

ebay mani
Decent turbo (not chinese)
Intercooler
uprated clutch

Im presuming the following:

Chip for standard ecu
Local exhaust place will fab a turbo back exhaust
30lb injectors will do the job

Now I have asked for Gunnis advice as it seems he is the guru on this matter please dont be offended if you have loads of info too

Essentially my understanding is a s follows,

bolt mani on
bolt turbo on
oil feeds ???
wastegate???
plumb in the intercooler
bov??
fit the chip
fit the injectors

how wrong am I? Does Gunni do a kit ?

thanks

This is a good read for turboing m20's:

http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74816

Don't try and fanny around with chipping the standard ecu and using a rising rate FPR and all that nonsense. If you are going to do it, and have a car that drives nicely, standalone is the only real option. Megasquirt and VEMS both do plug and play options if you aren't up to wiring. Another option would be:

https://www.millerperformancecars.com/s ... m20-detail

However, personally I would pick a proper MAP based standalone over that

Digging this up from the past, as e30tech doesn't seem to exist anymore and a was a good source of info in some cases did anyone ever create a guidance thread in here for m20 turbo installs?

Or can anyone recommend some good build threads?

There a couple of good build in this lot and some parts lists etc- the e30 tech list was useful I'm sure it will be about online somewhere. Try searching this forum too, as lots of people have successfully built turbo m20/m30 etc - use the search all terms to get a more specific result

iirc lurch_320I was selling a complete m20 turbo set up a while back.

Pretty cheap as well.

Thanks for the feedback gents, I don't really use facebook. I read Lurch project build, seemed to have almost got it all done and then decided to sell up?

A lot of the info across the forums seems to date back a few years with references to eBay manifolds etc, I'd assume it'd be cheaper now. There is a sticky on this page but most of the links are dead links now which is a shame.

It's definitely not cheaper, but parts are a lot easier to find. eBay manifolds are still junk

30lb injectors will be running at around 90% duty for 300hp I would go a bit bigger .
