Hello.

Does anybody have experience with TCD Kits? I have a few questions for those that have tried them :

I'm wondering how much can I use from the TCD kits for RHD. They told me that pretty much most of the things wont fit but from what I see the only issue that should exist is the dump pipe.

I was thinking in the Stage 1 kit which has no intercooler, both LHD and RHD engine bays look pretty much the same to me and the only thing that will need to be modded is the dump.

Have you guys had any experience with TCD Kits on RHD. Any chance of getting the Water to Air Intercooler to fit on the higher stage models?

Can their dump be modded or is it best to get a custom one?

Ideally I'd like to use the TCD Kit but otherwise is there anybody in the UK that Makes SC or Turbo kits for the E30 ?
There was one person who did S/C Kits who is no longer trading.

Thanks.

Just googled them. $3400 for a cast log style manifold, no intercooler, no engine management and a no name turbo (read: Chinese scrap)...am I missing something?

Buy the parts yourself, you will have to make your own downpipe either way so start with some decent parts and go from there. No point hacking up an over priced kit would be ridiculous.

On my phone right now but I'll post a good link about turboing m20's later that should help you

I don't have all the time to custom make every single bit and drive around paying workshop after workshop to make things fit and custom fabrication etc.

I'm looking for a kit that has most or all the stuff that will bolt in thats designed to work on M20, Could not find a SC kit that retains A/C Compressor so which is why looking at Turbo at the moment.

From what I found TCD makes the most complete kit, the rest is Just generic Ebay stuff that doesn't seem like it will work at all.

Not many people make a bolt on kit.take a look at a few build threads on here you'll see some of the custom work mentioned.

Replied to your pm btw

You could hallways go the tramp drift way, Volvo 950 turbo, intercooler & some aftermarket injectors MS3 to run it all?

As for the manifold, flip the log manifold upside down & get a mounting made up.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

You will be fabricating a lot either way. The difference is you can buy a decent tubular manifold and a decent turbo, as well as fit an intercooler (and don't bother with a water to air charge cooler) if you buy it all yourself and it will probably work out cheaper than this "kit". No one makes a ready to fit down pipe for a rhd car so the exhaust will need to be fully custom. The problem comes in fitting the down pipe round the steering shaft.

Realistically plumbing in an intercooler isn't that difficult, in fact, it's probably the easiest part of the conversion. If you can't get creative with some angled and straight boost piping and some Samco style silicone connectors I don't think turboing an e30 is for you.

Have a read through this, interestingly it mentions TCD and says they have a good reputation, but since all you will use from the kit is a log style manifold, turbo, waste gate and fasteners etc I would completely rule it out as it's a pointless endeavour. It will give you a good idea of what it takes to turbo an e30.

If you don't have the skills to build it yourself and have to pay someone to do it, I have to say, do yourself a favour and just go buy a fast car. It will save you endless headaches and expense and it will run every time you turn the key (hopefully)

Hi!

I'm using various pArts from TCD I didn't buy a complete kit but I had a manifold, turbo, injectors off them, a little fabrication was required to mount a waste gate some 38mm pipe and a couple flanges nothing to testing really, obviously had to make my own down pipe but most turbo conversions do. I think on the tuning side of it a 6 branch manifold would get better results but the log one still works

:D

Ive nearly finished my turbo conversion and all I can say is listen to the advice from the guys on here.

Read the past builds. check what others have done.

You will end up fabricating a lot of parts. in terms of a turbo down pipe I have a good contact that can sort you out when the time comes.

Iv bought the TCD kit, the waste gates are TIAl. The turbo brand is COMP turbo, injectors they use are seimans

Mine was for m30. I needed to get angled bracket made, for the turbo housing. To take the turbo away slightly from the rocker cover,as I was having clearance issues. Iv opted for a tubular manifold now, as there was a group buy in the states
