Hi folks I'm just staring my supercharger conversion on my 1.6 m40 and I've got a m45 eaton supercharger of a new mini to go on it. Was just after some general help as I've seen a few people have already done this conversion,
what bottom pulley do people use or how do the modify them for multirib belts and to run the power steering pump
Also what size is best for the bottom pulley as this will obviously make a difference to what speed the charger runs at and how much boost it makes
Do people run intercoolers with this conversion as they run one on the new mini but not on verious conversions I've seen using them ie old minis etc or am I best using one I'm aware that force induction makes heat but is it required on these as a lot don't with this supercharger
Is a dump valve / blow off valve or wastgate a good idea or not required
Basically general help from people in the know or who have done this conversion
Has anyone done the conversion on hear and could post a few links to there builds that would be great
Generally any help and info would be great
Would also just like to say I aware there are better ways of getting more power and it would be better doing it on the 1.8 and just putting in a 2.5 would be better etc etc it's just something I fancy haveing a go at and messing with learning something new so is as much about messing and having a bit of fun doing something not run off the mill and quite cheap as it it getting more power was hoping to see about 130-150 bhp do you think this if feasible and what power have people been getting from this conversion regards adam

Hi Adam
I can't help much on the specific's of the m45 but can give a bit of general info.
Running an intercooler will allow you to run more boost and keep the charge cool a double benefit for bhp. Disadvantages I'd imagine on the build would be the routing of the pipe work and cost
A blow off/ re circulating valve is essential with a supercharger as it's constantly forcing air into the engine, maybe too much at high rpm or when the throttle plate is closed
A book I would recommend is by graham bell - forced induction tuning
Check out this link might be useful too
