Dinan Supercharger Kit e36

Iv just put down a deposit on this kit. Has anyone had experience with supercharging an m52b28 or can tell me something about this Dinan/ powerdyne bd11a kit?

I think they are only 6psi as standard. Dinan say that the kit was designed around reliability it only puts out low pressure.

Is it true that superchargers like this one don't add much heat to the intake temps?

True. I wonder does the fact that a turbocharger is connected to the exhaust manifold add more heat compared to the 'cold' side of the engine?

No - not true about turbos getting hotter because they are coupled to the exhaust, although it's a fair call. With oil and water running around the central bearing housing and the materials used, heat management on turbos is very good.

6 psi is going to give you a healthy push - trouble is, boost always leaves you wanting more...

A smaller pulley giving 9psi will be on the cards someday with a remap so I should closer to 350bhp possibly with a free flowing exhaust. Im at 227bhp ATM so Id imagine 9psi could add 100hp. Any idea how much pressure I can run without an intercooler?

Not 9 psi...

That said, you can add as much as you like without an intercooler - problem is, you have to pull so much spark advance out with the increased air temperatures, plus, it's less dense (as it's hotter), so you down further down the spiral..

I would stick to the kits recommendations and use 6psi. You will get more reliable power from that. Then you need to start thinking about intercoolers - that will give you more HP than increased boost.

Iv installed the kit minus a cooling system. The radiators with the expansion tank attached wont fit now that the supercharger is taking up that space.



Apart from that its basically running. Im a bit worried about the noise the charger makes when I start it up. I changed 2 of the smaller ball bearings and left the 2 larger ones as is. They seemed to be in good condition as they only spin 1/3 of the speed of the smaller ones. (Video below)

The video gives an idea on how loud it is in the beginning. It does get quieter after 30+ seconds but Im wondering is this normal?
