Hello,

I recently got some basketweaves for my 316 and the centre caps have these weird bolts that seem to be very specific to this type of centre cap (see pics).

These bolts do not have any way of tightening with a conventional tool such as an allen key, screwdriver or even a specialist tool as the head is simply round.

Does anyone know anywhere I can find replacements for these bolts/a tool to get them tight enough to avoid losing my centre caps?

I have looked at the old Renault centre cap bolts, but they are different in appearance and may not fit.

Just replace it with a counter sink stainless screw, something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-M5-X-30-ST ... 0005.m1851

This is odd my caps don’t have a bolt. I’m also wondering what does it screw into!

The caps in the OP aren't E30 originals, As far as I know no BMW basketweaves cap came with any kind of locking bolt, maybe it's a diy job.

Ahh diy....good call.
Looking v closely at the OP photo, the bolt hole is in a former formed triangular depression, the left hand formed corner of the triangle is just visible, pretty good job though.
The depressions in mine are pentagon shaped, plus mine have 17, whereas the OP has 15, making me think these are 14” wheels against my 15”.
Still wonder what the bolt screwed into?

I’m also wondering if the bolts are former Allen socket head cap screws which have been machined out.
Maybe the owner had a ‘gizmo’ which gripped the inside of the screw head. A pretty good idea all in all ....... if only I knew what it screwed into?

Definitely a DIY security mod. There are various kinds of 'security' bolt available which need a special driver to turn them. There's the torx with centre pin, as in the ebay link up the thread, often found on consumer electrical equipment, and I have fitted commercial light fittings with screws that need a triangular driver and others that need a square driver.
